Obama to Donors: 'I'm Skinny but I'm Tough'
WP: Obama to Donors: 'I'm Skinny but I'm Tough'
By Perry Bacon Jr.

SAN DIEGO -- John McCain may have visited Iraq more often than has Barack Obama, but the Illinois senator is pretty confident that he already knows more than his opponent about the situation there.

"I will recall the visit he made last year in which he was surrounded by helicopters and SWAT teams and he came back and reported how safe everything was in Baghdad. And I don't think that that was indicative of what was actually happening on the ground at that time," Obama told reporters Sunday.

He also said, "John McCain has been in Congress 25 years, no doubt about that. If this is a longevity measure, then John McCain wins. On the other hand, before we went into Iraq, I knew the difference between Shia and Sunni," referring to a gaffe this March when McCain conflated the two Muslim sects....

Obama also showed off his sharp elbows at a fundraiser here, noting to the donors that he had told NBA star Bill Walton, who was in the crowd, that he would be a feisty candidate. "I was talking to Bill Walton, he knows something about winning, and he said, 'Well, I'm worried we Democrats -- sometimes we get too soft. We're always on the defensive, and these folks are going to play mean and they're going to play nasty.'"

"Listen, I'm skinny but I'm tough," Obama said. "We are going to be responding swiftly and forcefully but always truthfully to any attacks that are launched."

1. Tough enough to stop a bullet in the Middle East?
You did hear he's going there, right? The land where the Bushies give out money for people to wield guns?

It may be time to start knitting the funeral scarves.

2. That is nonsense.
He does have Secret Service protection, and that does mean something.

7. He has Bush's Secret Service protecting him. Duuuuh.
They were the ones that called off local Dallas cops from the protection detail, remember? Obama's assassin apparently didn't get his chance then. He will when Obama goes to the Middle East Death Zone. And the Secret Service will claim...they had nothing to do with it, to their next leader, John McCain.

4. Uh oh. Responding forcefully sounds like defense. My advice to Obama
is to say that he's more than willing to take a look at all proposals on Healthcare once he's president, including any put forth by the insurance companies, or The Medicare For All Act, or plans put forth by care providers.

He should say that all plans submitted will be judged on 3 criteria;

1.Universal Access - Everybody is always covered for comprehensive medical, dental, hospital, vision care, home health, prescriptions, preventative care.

2. Affordabiliy. Any plan that wins out has to be affordable for everyone.

3. Choice. Everyone gets the right to choose their care provider(s) (assuming their provider of choice is accepting new patients) and change provider as they wish.

If he promised to use those 3 outcomes as his bottom line for health care reform, he would solve his fund raising problems overnight.
