I Just Saw The New Yorker. It Opened My Eyes.
Apparently, Barack is an Osama-loving Muslim extremist of some sort. And his wife is militant black-power type, complete with 'fro. And she's armed

Thank goodness that I learned this now, before making the mistake of voting for Obama. Now I'll cast my vote for McCain instead.

Whew, that was close.

1. Here's what I don't get about the controversy
Perhaps this is even what you were getting at, so help me out here if I'm not understanding but...

Isn't The New Yorker magazine the EXACT same thing as your post, only done in an artistic way? An artistic depiction of MannyGoldstein's post?

What makes the cover so disgusting, but your post fine? Both are obviously jokes, an exaggeration of the stupidity of freepers. So what's the big deal here? Is it just because they made it in picture form?

4. I think the other work he's done for the New Yorker stinks
as compared to their other artist/humorist.

He's just not a good satirist or humorist.

5. Yes. Fact is, it's all about perception.
And perception is as follows: It's 70% how it looks to us, 20% what's being told us and only 10% what the message is trying to be conveyed to us.

Add to the fact that there are still dumb-asses out there that really believe that Barack is Muslim and that they're just waiting for the "angry (and frightening) black man" to emerge because, after all, ALL black men and women are angry people, right?

The New Yorker depiction of Barack and Michelle is outrageous and disgusting since it doesn't even have an ounce of truth in it other than the uninformed misgivings by the minority, and they're being catered to with this dumb ass depiction.

Why do American people hate black people?

8. You see, here's the thing...
The OP's satire (more appropriately, sarcasm) was leagues more accessible than the New Yorker cover. I've seen cartoons that are accessible and communicate the satire leagues more effectively than this inscrutable attempt that the New Yorker cover.

9. Actually, the New Yorker speaks to an informed audience. So it's totally accessible
the only real problem are the people who want the bullshit said about Obama to remain in the dark so they can pretend it isn't happening. Which is a stupid strategy.

2. McCain's old lady is an alien...not the sneak across the border kind

I did not see it on the cover of The New Yorker, so I am dubious.
