Could THIS be the moment McCain has been waiting for???
"Revenge is a dish best served cold"

Just like Kerry had to play it cool and let Shrub hang himself on this and wait till the links became visable...

Now that all the DIRECT links to BushCo are being exposed, could he now stand up and say...

"I was deceived, I was lied to, I was told that President Bush was not responsible for these shameful ads..

No More"

and walk away from Shrub??

He's not going to turn on Bush.

6. I didn't say I was pinning anything on him...
just another nail in Shrub's coffin..

and I wouldn't bet on it. And I didn't say he would turn to Kerry, just turn away from Shrub (ie. affiliate with NO ONE.. that would be more deveastating to Shrub)

22. It's nice to imagine, but it's also unlikely. McCain wants to be
President.

McCain will keep supporting Bush so the Republican Party will support him running for President in 2008.

4. McCain is NOT going to walk away from Bush
The Republican party is VERY disciplined. If he criticizes Bush in ANY WAY he may lose whatever power he does exercise in the Senate. Republicans are punished for going against the party line and generally the punishment is swift.

Unlike the Democrats who don't seem to mind that one of their own, Zell, is shilling for Bush during an election year when the party is supposed to be "united."

10. You think 'this' GOP has a FUTURE when Shrub get's nailed??
Shrub going down will destroy the neo-con GOP. McCain may well be the phoneix of the new one.. and to do that, he may have to distance himself from Shrub now... I didn't say ally with Kerry, just distance himself from Shrub.

32. and he didn't do so well
I think Reagan set the age limit for running for your first term as president. He was 69 and anything after that is unacceptable. Dole was never supposed to win, the GOP ran him because it was his turn, just sort of threw him to the wolves, but they conceded that election.

46. A lot depends on his health. He's had lots of problems with skin
cancer. I do think he would love another shot at the Presidency, and if he's healthy, he stands a good shot at it, IF HE GETS THE SUPPORT OF THE PUB PARTY! From everything I hear, that's who burried him in 2000. It wasn't his support with the people, it was the Party whowanted shrub.

11. Sorry, No.
When Bush gets beat, McCain has been a good Republican and will win the nomination in 08.

If Bush has made things too bad for Kerry to get us out of in four years, McCain gets to be President.

After seeing the pics of McCain hugging war pig bush - he can follow bush's path right to hell as far as I'm concerned.

15. You're not getting the point...
At one time, it would have been nice for McCain to endorse Kerry.. but now, I'm thinking that McCain is out for McCain.

What better way to lead his OWN WING of the party than to walk away from Shrub because of 'dirty politics' and lead a 'party of respect'
What better way to be in a position to be the 'phoenix' that raises the GOP from the ashes and disgrace of Shrub getting trounced in November.
What better way to ASSURE he's the candidate in '08.

When Shrub goes down, so do the neocon fanatics, off to lick their wounds to try to regroup. But that regroup won't be in '08..

McCain is out for McCain...

now ponder that...

16. Nice dream, but
don't count on it.

On the other hand you have to think that a guy that got his time in Hanoi dissed, his adopted daughter dissed, and his wife dissed, all by the same folks has got to be giving some thought to getting some sort of pay back. (Maybe a silent refusal to appear with W from now on?)

I don't know, I do have a question, when is McCain's term up and how old is he now? (ok, two questions I know :) )

Even if we don't agree with his politics. And we haven't questioned Chuck Hagel's either, even though he's a Republican.

In FACT, we haven't questioned ANY veteran's service, while the Republicans have gone after THREE Democrats.

Disgusting hypocrites.

27. McCain sold his soul a long time ago.
Maybe there was a time when John McCain sought the high road of decency, but that time is long past. He is morally bankrupt, unable to stand up for the principles he claims to believe. His public persona of independence is nothing more than a mythology. He has become a pitiful and cowardly little man who disgraces the Senate office he holds.

And McCain wants to be in a position to pick up the ashes. I think he wants to be President and doesn't care if he's too old. He's too needed by the Party and the Press to resurrect the GOP after Bush/Cheney/Rove train wreck...

No. McCain is a Repub who is campaigning for his party's nominee.
It's as simple as that. He's NOT a creep, as some other posters say. He's an honorable man who happens to belong to a different party. It's infantile to think that makes him a creep.

But it's naive to think that he would desert his party simply because he doesn't happen to like the current nominee, Bush. He's a Republican. He will stay a Republican. He will campaign for Republican nominees. He's not changing parties.

Why do people have trouble understanding that?
