Fluff story on the Obamas a good read in the Chi Sun Times
I know it would drive me nuts to see a first page fluff story on mccain. That said, I still enjoyed the story.

'2 people who love each other'
THE OBAMAS | Michelle's brother once said of Barack: 'Nice guy. Too bad he won't last.' He was wrong.

July 13, 2008

BY STEFANO ESPOSITO Staff Reporter/sesposito@suntimes.com

Her scolding him for not picking up his dirty socks. The chest-thumping family Scrabble tournaments. Date nights with the kids in tow.

The cynics will say the Barack and Michelle Obama love story has been carefully scripted to convince voters that this is an ordinary, imperfect couple to whom anyone in America can relate.

Perhaps, but those closest to the Obamas say the only contrived part of the marriage is the hard, sometimes frustrating, work that has led to almost 16 years of enduring love.

In a way, family and close friends say, the Obamas' relationship is anything but a typical American love story....

1. Good positive piece.
The Obamas seem very much smitten
with one another.
That is a good thing.

3. Obama seems to have broken the cycle of abandonment all too often perpetuated in families
both black, white, latino.

2. Love it. And the story shows just how strong Michelle is
It seems she's less "the rock" of the relationship than the steel girder.

4. What I like about it is
that it shows the Obamas as human beings. Hard to be afraid of someone with a funny name when you read about their life and realize it is very much like your own.

5. I like these fluf pieces, Shamelessly, I loved the clip on
ET or whatever show it was where he appeared with his wife and kids after one of the daughter's birthday party (but later regretted doing so). The audience polled by that show gave an 80% approval rating of that story. Fluff pieces are a very important part of campaigning and will bring people into the process that you may not otherwise reach. I am a closet fluff piece lover.:) This is a major advantage O has over MCsame. It would never work with his family, I've already seen his mother before she was banned from interviewing.
