My idea for Kerry ad:

(A MEDIUM STILL SHOT OF A ROW OF SOLDIERS STANDING AT ATTENTION, SHOT FROM DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF THEM. THEIR FACES ARE OBSCURED IN SHADOW, BUT WE CLEARLY SEE THEIR WEAPONS IN SILHOUETTE. THE CAMERA PANS ACROSSS THE ROW AS IT SLOWLY ZOOMS IN.)

VOICE OVER: "35 years ago...certain craven souls thought it was just fine to cower behind our brave fighting men and women, letting them bear the brunt of sacrifice while the cowards who backed them with nothing but words ducked responsibility, hid out, and used these veterans as human shields so they could go through life unscathed.

(WE'D SEE A SHADED FIGURE IN SILHOUETTE (CLEARLY NOT IN UNIFORM AND BASICALLY A CUT-OUT PHOTO STILL) DRIFTING BEHIND THE SOLDIERS, AS IF TRYING TO STAY HIDDEN. EVERY TIME THE CAMERA LOCKS IN ON HIM, HE MOVES AWAY BEHIND ANOTHER SOLDIER. THE CAMERA SLOWLY ZOOMS IN STILL AS HE "RUNS".)

Can you imagine that? Someone hiding behind those who served, and using their words to cover up for his own cowardice in the face of war?

THE FIGURE BEHIND THE SOLDIERS IS MOVING QUICKLY NOW AS THE LIGHTS START TO COME UP ON HIM, LIKE A COCKROACH. YOU CAN START TO SEE HIS FACE NOW.

No one with an ounce of courage would do something like that.

(AS THE FIGURE TRIES TO DART AWAY, WE ARE TIGHT ON HIS FACE IN A SPACE BETWEEN TWO SOLDIERS. WE FREEZE JUST AS A FLASH ILLUMINATES HIM, EXPOSING THE "FIGURE" AS A YOUNG GEORGE BUSH.)

Would they?"

(WE ZOOM IN ON THE FACE TO THE POINT WHERE THE PIC BECOMES VERY GRAINY AND MORPHS INTO A GRAINY CLOSE-UP OF BUSH FROM TODAY. THE ZOOM CONTINUES RIGHT INTO HIS EYE.

"Mr. President..."

FADE TO BLACK. THEN THE VOICE OVER CONTINUES WITH IT'S WORDS IN STARK WHITE ON THE BLACK SCREEN.

..it's time to stop hiding. (BEAT OF SILENCE) And debate the issues."

Excellent Idea! It just kills me that he hid out from the war in the National Guard and then hid out from the Guard itself. Now, he is hiding behind the Not-so-Swift Liars. Is this a Bizarro World or what? Those who served get smeared and those who didn't get a free pass. I say Bush's free pass is expired.
