This thing about McCain's lack of computer skills....I think they're using it as a ploy
to get the votes of the segment of America that has not made computers a part of their life yet. You know, one of those "dumb it down" things that makes certain people feel more comfortable with the guy.

Seriously, McCain's camp knows that this could be perceived as another negative for him, once the word got out that he knows fuckall about computer skills, so they're turning a negative into a positive by having McCain make light of it, and thus making the computerless segment of the population feel like they have something in common with him, so they hope.

Democrats need to pepper him relentlessly on this, pointing out that a president in modern times would be a danger to society, not an asset. We need to take this subject and make TV commercials about it, portraying McCain as getting an important email from Russia at 3 AM and not knowing how to open the crucial attachment that came with it, for example.

2. do you remember how they dumbed down the debates with Bush and Gore, Bush didn't have to win... he
just had to do better than people thought he would.

Unbelievable.

George Bush is the most dumbass president this country has ever dealt with. What an embarrassment.

3. McCain is enhancing his appeal to those Americans whose VCRs are still flashing 12:00.
There are still Americans who are computer illiterate, and damned proud of it. McCain doesn't have to know how to program a VCR, how to operate a computer or open an email attachment. As president, or senator, or even a rich dude, somebody will do that for him. His embracing of this ignorance and his seeming pride in it is not impressive or inspiring. We've been there, done that for the last 8 years.

4. remember when bushgirls got nailed for drunk?
around time of bs 2k election, the pigmedia were all over the story about the twins drinking and carrying on, even getting busted. As if the russian army could get within 100 ft of them w/out the bushgangster's permission(!)...they conned the dupes who felt sorry for the belly-cracker-in-chief, having teen troubles just like you'n'me...poor fella (it was so ridiculously obvious a con, yet bush banked its benefits, like ted bundy stashed his victims/playthings; and notice it was booze, not dope- wouldn't be prudent, dope)

5. They Might be Doing That,
but I think it's a bad move. It would be underestimating how many older and working-class people there are who use computers or at least respect people who do.

6. If Washington, Jefferson or Madison were around now at McCain's age
they would know how to use computers.
