Barr Says He’s Drawing Paul Support
ATLANTA - Libertarian Party presidential candidate Bob Barr said he’s receiving backing from supporters of Ron Paul’s failed White House bid.

Barr told reporters on Thursday that he’s in contact with the Republican congressman from Texas. And he added that Paul supporters are contributing to his campaign and working as volunteers. Paul is a former Libertarian candidate for president himself. He recently dropped out of the GOP race after it became clear Arizona Sen. John McCain had secured the nomination.

Paul still enjoys a loyal base of support. Some of them say they are now giving Barr a look.

Barr, a former congressman and federal prosecutor from Georgia, was at the state Capitol filing ballot access paperwork.

I guess we can start looking for giant "Google Bob Barr" signs?

1. Ron Paul got a lot of votes in some swing states
like PA and also WA and MT I think. That'll help keep the McCain numbers down in some of those states.

2. Barr is one reason why McCain is doing poorly in some states.
He's even tied with Obama in Indiana.

6. Paul is having his own convention in Minneapolis
during the GOP convention. I can't help but wonder what he'll do there.

4. Paul is still very popular around here
I'm going to make sure all Paul supporters know this information. A vote for Bob Barr is a vote against McCain, after all.

10. LOT of Paul support where I am in Florida
I have yet to see one single McCain sticker or sign.

However, the Obama ones still outnumber them even here where Republicans are in the majority. If all these Ron Paul supporters switch to Barr and not McCain, that bodes very well for Obama.

11. I've seen twice as many Bill Bradley stickers
as John McCain stickers since the start of 2008. To be fair, both Bradley stickers were on the same rusty minivan.
