Has anyone stopped to think the Swift Boat "scandel" may blow up in Bush's
Face?

As I am reading post after post about how Kerry waited too long, should have been on the offensive from the start, Bush "played" him, etc, etc..

I am amazed that few have taken the position that this could seriously hurt the Bush campaign if the voters are told the TRUTH about these lying vicious, bitter individuals. And it's already happening:

The Washington Post already ran a story yesterday about a contridiction to the Swift Boat ad's chief liar's version of his events.

Chris Matthews ripped and shreaded to pieces Larry T. from Swift Boat and RWinger Michelle (cant recall last name) last night on Hardball.

The NY Times is working on a story to expose in detail who is funding these a-holes and how they are linked to Bush and his Administration.

People: this could be DISATEROUS not for John Kerry, but for Bush.

HELLO!! Am I the only one who believes this?

4. I think the problem is that Rove started this smear too early/
Because in a month this will all be cleared over, Kerry will be absolved of all the accusations/lies made of him and Bush will still be a dipshit.

At least with Will Horton - that was released close enough to the election that Dukakis didn't have anytime to recover from the smear!

7. I wonder what more is Roves arsenal.
In the long run this will only serve to hurt them a little more. I get a sense how desperate the Chimp Administration is to hold on to power.
so far they have used, lies, fear, more lies, fear and more lies.
This must vex them that Kerry is tied or has a slight lead still. Meanwhile the quagmire in Iraq is still unresolved.

9. No, the Horton ad actually was released quite early on - but the
problem was, the basic facts of the ad were true - Willie Horton was furloughed and he did commit a despicible crime while furloughed. Where Dukakis messed up was in not making the case - that could have been made - that prisonor punishment is an uncertain science at best and in particular, it is certainly not fair to hold a governor at fault for the crimes of one prisonor who was improperly furloughed. The Dukakis record on crime was defensible - they just chose not to highlight it and that was a mistake. They made the same mistake with the flag pledge crap - it should have been easy to make the case that a state can't require the recitation of the Pledge - after all the Supreme Court had ruled on that very question ith the 1940s.

10. I am amazed
that it has gone on so long. The dynamics are really quite bizarre.

"You say THIS happened."
"YES."
"Were you THERE?"
"No, but I'm well funded to say what I'm saying..."

Heh??? :freak:

6. Some of us have, but we still shouldn't stay quiet
I still think Democrats should mention "SwiftVets" in one sentence with Bush and GOP ... so people learn to make the connection that this smear campaign is designed by Rove, with approval from Bush

Remember how the whole Bush team was out there before the Iraq war and continuously mentioned Iraq and 9/11 in one sentence, so people would associate those two. It worked big time. After continually repeating that, a majority of people really thought, and some still think, that Saddam had something to do with 9/11.

In the end, if we are smart about it, it will backfire big time. Chris Matthews exposed the SwiftLiars for what they really are yesterday on Hardball. Others will follow

13. I agree...
I was initially pissed that moveon.org withdrew their ad, but since Kerry hit back so hard, I'm thinking that Kerry had planned to counter-attack.

This is going well for us.

Even the right wing bloggers are shutting up about it.

Wonder what's happenin' in Freeprville...

come in today who said he is a Repubican Vet and is sick of hearing them bash another Vet. He wanted a Vets for Kerry bumper sticker.

I would say it is already blowing up.

16. I Think The SwiftBoat Thing Is GREAT And The Timing...
couldn't be better as they will completely discredit themselves by the time the GOP comes around, and they will look like the skanks & liars they are even TOUCHING Kerry's war record by that time!

I think Kerry's been playing this thing very, very smart.

When are people going to learn not to count Kerry out? Remember the primaries? He's not dumb...

17. It Just DID!
Report exposes
Bush connections
to Swift Boat vets

Some who now rip Kerry
previously praised him

A newspaper investigation into the veterans' group behind the controversial TV ads about Sen. John Kerry's Vietnman war record has found a "web of connections" to the president and his family and many inconsistencies in the veterans' public statements on the matter...

18. In more ways than one
If it somehow leaks out that there was some collaboration by persons in the Bush campaign with the Liars, the ensuring FEC investigation would be serious and could very much hurt the Bush camp.

And given that this strategy precisely mirrors what happened to McCain in South Carolina in 2000, I would say that the probability that there wasn't some prodding and/or collaboration by the Bush people is virtually nill.

20. All that is too late. The damage has been done to Kerry already by
the ad and by the broadcast media. I heard that Kerry has gone down significantly in polls of veterans. We won't get them back now.
