What gives the repubs the right to say they are better on national defense?

I am so tired of hearing how they are better on defending this country. Didn't the worst ever terror attack, that happened to the United States, happen while they controlled the White House, Senate, and Congress? Didn't they just dismiss the information that the Clinton Administration provided them about Osama Bin Laden? Didn't the Clinton Administration prosecute the people responsible for the first attack on the Twin Towers? Didn't the Bush Administration practically piss of the entire Middle East by overseeing the horrors of Abu Ghraib?

So, with all of that being said, they continuously say that we have not had a terrorist attack on this soil in 7 years. Again, which party was running the country when that terror attack happened?

The CEOs of the profiteering corporations sure like republicans. They send their lackeys, often generals, to go out and talk about how the republicans will "keep us safe." The only thing the republicans keep safe is massive profits for war profiteering corporations.
