My response as a Christian, to all the people in my email list about the Obama is the Antichrist fwd
Edited on Tue Jun-24-08 06:45 PM by themartyred
The email forward I keep getting:

This is scarey! Read below!

This will make you re-think : A Trivia question in Sunday School :

How long is the beast allowed to have authority in Revelations ?

Guess the Answer?

Revelations Chapter 13 tells us it is 42 months, and you know what that is.

Almost a four-year term to a Presidency.

All I can say is Lord Have Mercy on us.!!!!!!

According to The Book of Revelations the anti-Christ is:
Theanti-Christ will be a man, in his 40's, of MUSLIM descent, who willdeceive the nations with persuasive language, and have a MASSIVEChrist-like appeal....the prophecy says that people will flock to himand he will promise false hope and world peace, and when he is inpower, will destroy everything ..

Is it OBAMA?? I STRONGLY URGE each one of you to post this as many times as you can!
Each opportunity that you have to send it to a friend or media outlet...do it!
--------------------------------------end of forward---------------------------------------------

Hi Everyone!
Thought you'd all get a kick out of this one, as it's one of the better (as in funny) anti-Obama forwards I've got this year!

The line, 'almost a 4 year term to a Presidency', and, 'anti-Christ will be a man, in his 40's, of MUSLIM descent' made me laugh! REALLY??? what BIBLE are they reading???

I don't remember being taught that. I'd be embarrassed sending this stuff out to others without knowing what I was talking about! Yet, this is the kind of crap that has been sent out about Obama - in the billions!

And how must this make McCain feel? Is he that unlikeable that no one would ever accuse him of such a thing, because he's just not nice enough to be the Antichrist? (I'm being facetious, which is a lot better than what people are being when assailing Obama with such hatred).

But, hey, if the Antichrist is coming soon - that just means Christ is coming sooner, and who doesn't want Christ to come back sooner? How in the world could we dare imply we have the ability to stop what GOD Himself has already spoken to us, as what will occur!? C'mon People!

May God bless you and yours,
signed me

I used the Anti Christ spiel against reagan and both bushs.. the new world orders and all that.. . anyone with half a brain, or having ever read the bible knows the Muslim faith did not even exist till half a millennium after the death of Christ.. they (the extremist hard right Christians?) are just so easy to play, I can't help myself sometimes..:).

7. Revelations says a Muslim?
Edited on Tue Jun-24-08 07:00 PM by Jake3463
Funny because Muslims didn't exist till 500 years after the book was written.

At the time the book was written you had Jews, Pagans, Zoarastrians, and a small sect called the Way (Christians).

I'm very curious to see what passage the prediction of Islam as a religion was made in the book of Relevations and how they can differentiate Islam from any other religion either not known or not founded when the book was written.

Fucking book burning fundies don't even know their own book let alone anything about World History.

8. The absolute insanity of this argument doesn't even need Snopes to debunk it.
There is absolutely NOTHING in Revelation or any other prophecy which implies the Antichrist would be "Muslim".

The most obvious reason for that would be that Revelation was written in approximately 90 AD and Islam wouldn't exist for about another 520 years or so, as Muhammad began writing the Quran in 610 AD.

It is true that the Arab people are believed to be the descendants of Abraham through his son Ishmael, but even this is not mentioned in Revelation.

And considering the fundagelicals have been preaching for years that the Antichrist would be the leader of the European Union (which they believe fulfills a prophecy of a reborn Roman Empire) it's a little bit of a credibility problem for them to suddenly switch stories and claim a "Muslim" from the US would be the son of Satan

What the book of revelations really says about the anti-christ?

Seeing that alot of theologians don't even believe in an Anti-Christ.

How do you prove you aren't the Beast?

14. Simple mathematics
If your name doesn't add up to 666, you aren't the Antichrist.

Barack 6
Hussein 7
Obama 5

675 is not the number of the Beast. He's off the hook.

Now on the other hand, we have John McCain. McCain literally translates to "son of Cain". Cain was the first murderer, who bashed his brother Abel's skull in with a rock, because he was jealous, and thought God liked Abel better. Also McCain's father was also named John, which makes him John Jr. And his middle name is Sidney. So that means......

John Jr 6
Sidney 6
McCain 6

Uh oh..... :scared:

15. The 666 thing
doesn't even necessarily mean the person's name, and even if it did, in what language? Hebrew, Greek, Latin? Doubt it would be English seeing that anything close to a form that we could understand wasn't around till the 14th century and even than was considered a hick language of a backward island compared to French and Latin

17. Actually, it does mean his name, according to the scripture
...He also forced everyone, small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on his right hand or on his forehead, so that no one could buy or sell unless he had the mark, which is the name of the beast or the number of his name.

This calls for wisdom. If anyone has insight, let him calculate the number of the beast, for it is man's number. His number is 666.

There are so many ways you can tie a number to a name. Hebrew letters are also Hebrew numbers. Roman Numerals if you use Latin etc.

33. Apparently there are some branches of the Catholic church who believe that to be the case.
Problem with that theory is that Nero died in 68 AD, two years before the Romans booted the Jews out of Jerusalem, and more than 20 years before John wrote Revelation.

John was clearly writing about a vision of the future, and the Antichrist as the leader of that future time period. There's nothing in Revelation which states or implies that the Beast would be a previous emperor. Though scripture in the book of Daniel can be interpreted (as the fundies do) to say that the AC's kingdom would be a revival of the Roman Empire itself.

Some are indigestible and quite toxic. Others hew closer to common decency and have the gospels and the life of Jesus to back them up.

But eating Christians is a false practice and not to be encouraged.

35. Revelation was talking about the Roman Empire and Nero was the 666 (in numerology)
The anti-Christ was the Roman emperor who claimed to be descended from gods, and therefore divine. This is in contrast to the real divine leader--and you all know who that is.

The Muslim thing comes from Nostradamus. He talks about a man from Arabia wearing a blue turban. When Obama wears a blue turban, then we can all start worrying. :) Until then, this is just nonsense.

akin to a Roman Caesar, and he was going to make the world worship him, and he was going to use the esoteric "New Age Movement" to unite the world's religions right after it reached critical mass. The One-World Religion never came about, seems all of those New Agers are just a bunch of flaky slackers after all.
