Pelosi floats Edwards

Pelosi floats Edwards

Rep. Chet Edwards, that is.

“Anyone that Barack Obama wants is my choice for vice president,” Pelosi . “But I do think in the list of considerations there should be somebody from the House of Representatives and Chet Edwards is a person that many of us think would be a good person to be in the mix.”

That should be worth a vote or two from President Bush's congressman.

6. He brings little experience to the ticket - that didn't matter with Kerry, it does with Obama
It is also telling that NO Kerry strategists or money people went to Edwards when Kerry opted not to run. Most went to Obama - and many are key to that campaign. That would tell me that he is not really on the list - though Kerry has said nothing about Edwards as VP - Edwards comments on proudly not using the campaign's slogan lead me to believe that Shrum was not lying in saying Kerry regretted picking him. It may be he can't do well as number 2 - in 2004, in the GE he was a pale copy of what he was in the primaries.

10. I don't believe a word that Bob Shrum says.

He's no more reliable than Terry McAuliffe.

Your attacks on Edwards as about as reliable as the ones you launched in another thread against the Clintons--based on gossip and speculation.

12. That was NOT an attack on Edwards
Edwards said that he did not use the slogan because he did not like it. That by the way came from Edwards - note Kerry was out of the country and didn't respond - he and Teresa were in Africa, looking into the implementation of the AIDS program - here is the link: http://www.nytimes.com/2007/11/21/us/politics/21edwards.html?_r=1&sq=Edwards%20Kerry%20&st=nyt&adxnnl=1&oref=slogin&scp=4&adxnnlx=1214339955-bQiG6Q8AgY2etS+hMNDwag

What I said was that Edwards NEVER reconciled to follow the Kerry script - now, I do think that Edwards respected Kerry more than he does Obama - you read the things that he said of Obama being too weak. Do you think he would give the allegiance that a VP owes the nominee to Obama that he failed to give Kerry?

As to where strategists and fundraisers went it is not gossip, but fact - reported many places in 2007 as they moved.

Note that I was commenting that from what EDWARDS said of 2004, I could believe Shrum was telling the truth that Kerry regretted picking Edwards. Parse the sentence - I was saying that just from what Edwards said, I would not be surprised. Do you think that Kerry was happy that the inexperienced first term Senator he picked was second guessing him?

You are the one not facing reality - reality that the Clintons are still pretty bitter and are blaming others about her loss and that Edwards, not matter how charming did not get that VP was second banana - and a slogan was not worth fighting over. It would have been better for them to have ONE.

4. Nice try Nancy but no thanks

Anyone who thinks that the Iraq war bills were designed to end the war and bring the troops home isn't reading carefully (and reading you must because there isn't any way corporate media on the teevee will tell you). And Chet Edwards continues to be one of the *Democrats* who votes with Republicans against anything that would *tie* Bush's hands.

Before he agreed to vote for the first Democratic Iraq funding bill, which set a deadline for troop withdrawals, Edwards insisted on a provision that would have given the president the right to waive those requirements if he deemed it necessary. He said he told his party leaders, "We must allow flexibility to the commander in chief."

Now Edwards believes it's time for the White House to show flexibility. "The White House has to be willing to negotiate in good faith," he said. "The House has taken a step by dropping timetables."

8. Without even knowing the guy...
I know that this is bad advice by virtue of the fact that Nancy Pelosi is the new owner of Tom Daschle's pink tutu. (If you've listened to Malloy a few times, you should understand what I'm getting at.)

I know nothing about this Chet Edwards guy, but if Jellyfish Pelosi is a fan, I'd bet he's completely on board with the corruption of congress.

WTF?

If/when Edwards retires from that seat, it will fall to the Pubes.
