Poll: Obama Narrowly Ahead In Pennsylvania -- And Winning "Beer Track" Voters!
Poll: Obama Narrowly Ahead In Pennsylvania -- And Winning "Beer Track" Voters!

By Eric Kleefeld - June 23, 2008, 5:49PM

A new Rasmussen poll of Pennsylvania gives Barack Obama a narrow lead over John McCain in this must-win state. The numbers: Obama 46%, McCain 42%, with a ±3% margin of error.

And despite the constant message in the primaries that Obama wouldn't be able to win "beer track" voters, the pollster's analysis has this: "Obama has a sizable lead among those voters earning less than $40,000 a year, with McCain well ahead among those who earn more than that annually."

Even if we factor out African-American voters who are more economically downscale, this would still suggest Obama is doing solidly among white blue-collar voters.

2. PA is not a purple state
Our only sin in the past 20 years was Santorum...who is the result of Bob Casey Sr.'s ego. His son redeemed the family in 2006 and removed that filth from our congressional delegation.

Specter is the remnant of the GOP when they were only crazy....not batshit insane.

5. The last time we voted GOP is 1988
California, New Jersey, and Illinois went red in that year too.

We've only had one Repuke govenor since that time and he isn't that popular here after his stint in the war criminal administration.

Santorum got elected because Harris Wofford pissed off Bob Casey Sr. and he worked against him in 1994.

Specter is an odd bird. When he has a serious GOP primary challenger democrats become a republican for a day to defeat the challenger for some odd reason.

4. Love the way they label them
Beer Drinking voters..not. Whatever they drink or make a year they're smarter than the ones who earn more annually who are voting mccain.

Most "Reagan Democrats" are retired, dead, or in old folks homes right now.

9. Spend your money elsewhere, Barack. We'll deliver PA for you.
The work we did registering voters and GOTV in April will pay dividends!

10. "Beer Track voters"?
What does that mean? Has anyone heard that before? I think it's a mistake to use pejorative terms like this to describe groups of people.

13. Extra stupid considering beer is the new latte...
And microbreweries the new coffeehouse.

These labels are truly getting ridiculous.

12. Rasmussen's last poll of PA only had him up by 2 now it's 4.
Since each pollster varies in method, I think it's best to compare them with previous polls from the same pollster. IMHO, Pennsylvania is like NJ in polling. They appear close but go Democratic in the end. While Clinton won commanding margins of 9% in PA, Gore only won it by 5 and Kerry by 2. A 4% margin in a Rasmussen poll this early in the race is pretty good for PA.
