Barack Obama Should Run As An Underdog Due To GOP Fear Mongering
There is a great bias in favor of the status quo. Despite the desire for change, many Americans fear it, and may very well fear the mediocre conditions we currently experience. We have seen the MSM in recent days continually pound at Obama while giving McCain a free pass.

This is why I think it is a mistake to assume, or act as though, a Democratic victory in November is inevitable. Americans have been under GOP rule for 8 years. The GOP, with the enthusiatic support of Fox, has elevated fear mongering to an art form. Barack Obama represents change on multiple levels, but Americans have been cowed into submission by 8 years of Bush's war on terrorism. Afterall, Americans were led to support the invasion of Iraq based on these fears, so we should not underestimate the profound impact of fear.

This is why Obama should embrace the role of an underdog against John McSame. McSame offers more of the same, and despite the obvious shortcomings of the current administration, people are familiar with it. They are familiar with high gas prices. They are familiar with lack of health care. They are familiar with crumbling infrasture. They are familiar with corporate handouts. They are familiar with Big Media telling them what to think.

This is why Obama is an underdog. Why we are an underdog. Despite Obama's fundraising prowness, it pales in comparison to the operating budget of Fox, and the shadowy support of "independent" GOP operatives.

We should not let John McSame claim the mantle of underdog, since he represents the status quo. He is essentially the incumbent, since he is the same as Bush.

1. Most people think this country is headed in the wrong direction
I don't think that translates to "a great bias in favor of the status quo". The majority in this country is sick and tired of the status quo.

2. "Better the devil you fear, than the Angel you don't know"
This well known saying summarizes the GOP's chances in November. Put another way, “There is enormous inertia—a tyranny of the status quo—in private and especially governmental arrangements. Only a crisis—actual or perceived— produces real change.”

The problem is that many Americans are worried, but do they perceive a crisis? Do they perceive a crisis in connection with global warming. Do they perceive a crisis in connection with the potential invasion of Iran? I think the answer is no, because the MSM is largely giving McCain and Bush a free pass on these issues.

This is why Obama is ultimately an underdog in this election.

3. Many American do perceive a crisis
They are losing their homes and jobs. They can't afford to put gas in the car, heat their home and buy all the groceries they used to. They are going bankrupt due to medical costs. After 7.5 years of *, they are finally noticing the direct effects of his admin on their lives. I'm sorry it took them so long to notice. But maybe it will affect the way they vote in November.

4. Too Late? - McCain Has Now Claimed The Role of Underdog!
This is breaking. John McCain is now claiming the role of underdog despite the heavy MSM attacks directed at Obama. I am sure the MSM will now play this up.
