Many years ago, little boys and girls, there was an ABC personality in an earlier incarnation of Good Morning America whose name was David Hartman. Now David was actually quite popular and left to star in a prime-time show called Lucas Tanner. David was apparrently pretty irascible off the set, but you'd never know it from his unctuous personality on the vapid early morning show.

ABC, had a problem...a BIG problem...they had to fill his shoes quickly and seamlessly...so what did they do? they hired a guy who sort of looked like David named...you guessed it...charlie gibson.

And so a legend was born.
