Rove: Obama's the Guy at the Country Club Holding a Martini Making Snide Comments About Everyone Els

http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalpunch/2008/06/rove-obamas-the.html

ABC News' Christianne Klein reports that at a breakfast with Republican insiders at the Capitol Hill Club this morning, former White House senior aide Karl Rove referred to Sen. Barack Obama, D-Illinois, as "coolly arrogant."

"Even if you never met him, you know this guy," Rove said, per Christianne Klein. "He's the guy at the country club with the beautiful date, holding a martini and a cigarette that stands against the wall and makes snide comments about everyone who passes by."

Rove said Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., "needs to come right at him." He referred to the latest Newsweek poll showing Obama with a 15-point lead over McCain as nonsense, though he used a more scatological synonym. Rove said he was heading over to the White House for lunch and a chat with the President, Klein reports.

Interesting that Mr. Rove would use a country club metaphor to describe the first major party African-American presidential candidate, whom I'm sure wouldn't be admitted into many country clubs that members of the Capitol Hill Club frequent.

36. Seriously!
I was just reading in Dreams From My Father about his experiences.
He was on the front lines helping people deal with gang violence, teen pregnancy, and other complicated issues found in many communities. He went out of his way to join the struggles of the residents of the projects and find and organize his own "elite clique" from there.

You know, often played by Ted McGinley or William Zabka. An arrogant and rich snobby prick who feels they're entitled to everything and when they don't get it, make a huge fuss.

Barack Obama is Hugh Hefner, George Bush the rich bully from every 1980s teen comedy.

Now all there is left for them is hanging around the bar being envying the other rich a-holes whose dates don't look like The Joker or whose price doesn't double for "overnight."

They probably write little slam books on cocktail napkins:

THINGS WE HATE

1) Skip Bufforfington bragging about his hole-in-one
2) Whit Whittington has a new supermodel girlfriend
3) Biff Morgan-Smythe can drink without dribbling on himself
4) Barack Obama
5) And other people who think they are "cool"--- but they SO aren't!

SO THERE!!!

How far we have advanced!

Just a few years ago, Obama's only chance at the country club would have been as the caddy.

Thank God for Barack Obama and Tiger Woods for breaking new ground.

And hell yeah, Barack is Double 0844! Now lets kick some Rove ass! :headbang:

Have things changed? One of my bosses always talked about a liquor cart making the rounds of the golf greens at his country club. Of course back then they had live caddies instead of golf carts. Back then the only way a black person could get into a country club was as an employee.

Martinis are nearly pure gin and thus not very thirst quenching. Also, a good martini gets warm quickly outside because it has no ice. You definitely have those in the airconditioned clubhouse after the game.

Let me get this straight, Obama is a country club elitist, at least according to that dope Karl Rove...First off, how many blacks are even members of a country club, people like Karl Rove would do their best to keep them out....The only blacks Karl Rove likes are the ones who are serving him water & bread at the restaurant in that country club, and check his coat at the coat room....

And by the way, from the movie "Fahrenheit 911" Bush says

"This is a meeting of the haves & have mores, some call you elitists, I call you my base"....

Whose the elitist?....

And which candiate left his ill wife to marry someone with a $100 million inheritance....Yep, it was the phony POW John W McBush....An elitist if there ever was one...

57. really, the funniest part about that quote isn't about Obama at all.
It's the implicit assumption in the "you know this guy" bit that everyone is familiar with the social dynamics of country clubs. Nice little bit of recursive, self-referential elitism there.

You would think that the sheer level of cognitive dissonance swirling around in Rove's "brain" would make his head explode, but I'm not holding my breath at this point.
