The real reason gasoline prices are where they are now
is because they (Bushco, Big Oil, OPEC, Big Corporations) needed to get them up to obscene levels in order to drop them dramatically, just in time for the election. That way, Big Oil could still make outrageous record-breaking profits, and then come out smelling like a rose when they drop oil prices just in the nick of time, making everyone "forget".

The Republicans know fully too well that the ONLY way they can win this election is to make it appear that life is good....just in time to make fence-sitting voters forget about how bad things really are. People seem to have very short memories, so they can be bought like candy.

This has been planned for over a year. 1) Raise gasoline prices as high as the sky will allow well before the election, putting umpteen extra billions of dollars in the pockets of the greediest and most corrupt of all Americans along the way. 2) Start lowering gasoline prices in mid-summer, dropping them over the course of a couple of months, culminating with the huge price decrease by late October. 3) Average Joe Blow will think life is good again, and will consider voting Republican again....because hey, things aren't so bad anymore, now that gas is down to $3.20/gallon (good gawd, as if that's a bargain). 4) Soon after the election (by mid January), no matter who wins, those prices will creep back up again. Hey, why not. After all, Americans prove over and over how they'll put up with it, the fools.

I predicted they'd attempt this in 2006 and I was right, despite no one believing me back then.

What I'm saying is get ready for the price of gasoline to drop dramatically by summer's end and continue dropping until late October. You heard it here first :smoke:

1. I don't think they're going to drop prices this time.
They're making too much money.

Instead, they've rolled out the off-shore drilling bullshit, and will blame dems for the high gas prices.

4. I think prices wils drop dramatically, maybe even start sooner than I'm saying
It's all been pre-planned. Buy the election by lowering gasoline prices. But in order to lower the price without having it hurt you in the pocket, you first have to choreograph an obscene increase in prices, even if the increase is artificial.

9. I have to agree. Once the market proves that it will support a certain price
Threshold, you usually don't see it come back down significantly. Although after 9/11 I do remember that gas prices took a huge tumble for some reason. That was the last time I can remember I paid .99 cents for gas.

2. Yup. And I didn't hear it here first.
;-)

Bush's Saudi friends are about to do Bush's party a huge favor.

Hannity et al all want to talk about Obama's "shady associations".

What about Dubya and the Saudi royal family?

7. I think they desperately want to drill in ANWR and off-shore...
and they want Congress to pass it before the oilmen leave office.

10. I don't think they want to drill anywhere.
They just want us (the people) to hand them leases to property to which they have no claim whatsoever.

And what's the incentive to drill? To make less money? I'm not familiar with that business model.

8. This is what's known as a redistribution of wealth.
Every time you buy gas, you're doing nothing but making a cash transfer from the basis of your power to the people who rule the world.

It has nothing to do with market economics or limited resources or anything else.

And, frankly, I don't think that the people who run the Republican Party give a damn about whether or not Republicans get elected this year.

11. The prices skyrocketed when someone mentioned obliterating Iran
Maybe it was just a coincidence, but I remember prices began to jump each day after that comment.

13. They want to drill in ANWAR and they can "sell" it now.
Just adding that tidbit as well. "Liberals are to blame because they don't want oil independence". That's the talking point. We need to boil down our position, but I'm not sure how?
