McCain surrogate tries new anti-Obama angle
http://www.chatterstream.com

Quote from the piece:

"In previous posts, we've looked at the GOP's search for a negative frame to define Obama, most recently David Brooks' attempt to push the bifurcation strategy of 2004:

"The flip-flopper label was devastating to John Kerry not because people are terribly averse to a man who changes his mind, but because it gave the impression that Kerry had no moral center, that he was a man divided -- half a man. It was contrasted with an image of a single-minded, resolute Bush. The contest came down to unity versus duality. David Brooks tries that out on Obama in the wake of Obama's public financing opt-out in a piece unsubtly titled The Two Obamas."

Identifying these negative frames is essential to an effective counter-attack. On Meet the Press this past Sunday, Lindsey Graham reveals a new approach (it remains to be seen whether this is part of a long-term strategy):

"The bottom line about, about Barack Obama, whatever the position, whether it be Iraq, campaign finance reform, public financing, he's going to take a tack that allows him to win. He wants to win beyond anything else, even more than keeping his word."

1. I don't think that will work because McCain has flipped on so many issues to get
the nomination - taxes, torture, immigration etc.

2. The Lindsey Graham performance fell very flat
It was clear that he was being disingenuous with how he was disappointed in Obama. I think Joe Biden wanted to reach over and smack him over the head.

3. Desperation Steams
from every word they say, from every twisted position they take, from every angle they attempt...it must be so frustrating not to be able to find *anything* that sticks to the Man from Chicago. There is no 'there' there.

5. it's so funny how the media has been immune to the "flip flop" phrase this season
(despite McCain's countless position switches) until Obama opted out of public financing,.
