We're going to have at least four years of this, folks, and hopefully eight.

Once Obama wins, this place is going to take on that old Free Republic dynamic, wherein there are those who are more loyal to the politician themselves and trust in them, aka Bush supporters on that forum, and those who just don't think the President is pure enough for them, aka as those who thought Bush wasn't nearly fascist enough.

It's going to be the same thing here for quite awhile, make no mistake. The face of DU is going to change dramatically. DU has never known having a Democrat in the White House, and once there is one the board will begin to polarize down brand new lines.

1. Yep. It's gonna be weird. But that's a price I'm willing to pay!
:)

P.S. Maybe we'll have to call it Democraticaboveground.com

2. We will have 8 - that's for sure! :-D
Interesting take on the situation developing before our eyes! After all, the Dem Party is the "big tent."

I was also wondering if maybe there are actually Obama kool-aid drinkers? Could that be part of the problem as well? I always dismissed that idea because those I know in person and the DU'ers I most interact with do not fit into that category at all. But perhaps there are those that idolize Obama to the extent that they never actually thought he might do something they don't agree with? That would make their disappointment all the more bitter and actually partially explain their reaction.

(PLEASE NOTE: I'm not applying this description to everyone who's bothered by the FISA situation, only those who are so beyond reason that they are stating they will not longer volunteer for/support/donate to/vote for Obama).

3. At that point it isn't undergound anything anymore. It's nationalism.
It'll be time for something different.
