Carly Fiorina, corporate America's/McCain shill, on Face the Nation working hard for BIG OIL along with Lindsay Graham on Meet the Press. Republicans, working hard to protect corporate profits, not the interests of the American people.

A much better discussion of the topic on This Week--a round table with Rep. Ed Markey and others including Texas's own Senator Kay Bailey Hutcheson, representing Big Oil.

2. Markey was excellent. He got the facts down cold and is not timid in asserting them.
He ended by saying we needed an President Obama to get us where we need to be on an energy policy for our country.

3. Robert Reich just did a great job with Wolf Blitzer too...
I'm so glad the Obama campaign relies on people who aren't afraid of the other side ~ and know how to get their points across!

5. It'll take forever for any major drilling surge.
All the offshore drilling rigs, or the majority of them, are on hire from the Persian Gulf nations.

Making more new rigs or waiting for the old ones to become available will take a long time.

If we want more hydrocarbons for our engines, we should be building refineries that can refine the sulfurous black goo that the Saudis are now putting on the market. They aren't selling the light, sweet stuff that every refinery can handle.

A new refinery or a revamp of an old one will take less time than drilling.

What is more, a lot of what comes out of deep water, deep wells is natural gas, which is great stuff, but it goes in the furnace, not the gas tank.
