Why isn't Obama out there pounding McCain for pandering to Canada on NAFTA
The guy went to Canada and gave a speech on it. How are they letting him get away with this? This should sink McCain in Ohio and Michigan

5. I'm aware of that but it's not that simple
The only way we could bring back our manufacturing sector is to raise tariffs and quotas which would cause the rest of the world to retaliate and raise their tariffs. We tried this in the 1930's with Smoot-Hawley and it was an absolute disaster.

Don't get me wrong I'm not wild about what neo-liberal economics does to the third world and I want to see our agreements re-negotiated for environmental and labor standards, which would in turn help make US workers more competitive. Also we NEED single-payer health care in this country because part of the reason American industry has so much trouble competing is health care costs for their employees.

6. He has been speaking out about this
Plus he is trying to move toward the center. Think of it this way. Voters who hate NAFTA aren't going to go to McCain, especially after this speech. Obama is trying to court the political center right now.
