4. Once more, misinformation
He pledged to seek an agreement regarding public financing. He and McCain were not able to reach an agreement. Thus, no public financing.

2. So, normal morning on Morning Joe, then?
I try to avoid him. I was quite happy when he stopped having regular appearances on "Race for the White House" (it's bad enough having to listen to David Gregory).

24. "REAL conservative" - is that what the rats are calling themselves now?

Or is that just what they named the lifeboats they fight tooth and claw for, hoping for a nice safe seat to watch the Republican ship sink? I think it's the latter - and I doubt many (if any) of these so-called "REAL conservatives" will demand even a token measure of accountability from the morally bankrupt, criminal Republican administration they've been supporting 110%.

Rebranding, that's the name of the game for Republicans now that they've run their criminal enterprise and the US's good name and economy into the ground. Actual change would require a functional moral compass - something it takes time and hard work to develop - so I don't expect anything more than a renaming, rebranding, repackaging job. The same political/economic forces and even the same line of characters run through the Nixon, Reagan, and Bush 1&2 administrations. Only the packaging changes.

25. Uh, actually they are....
John Dean and Grover Norquist to name a couple.

Most of the people that call themselves 'Conservatives' now are really Neo-Cons and crooks.

31. That's a fair question, and an easy one.
Real Conservatives are fiscal conservatives, they do not believe in deficit spending. Over the last 20+ years this has philosphy has been violated by enough people claiming to be conservative that it now appears that conservatives love debt.

Don't be fooled, if they're not fiscal conservatives, they're not conservative.

Real conservatives want to reduce government. Today's 'conservatives' do not.

Real conservatives want limited involvement in foreign affairs and reduction of foreign aid. Today's 'conservatives' want only one of those.

Real conservatives demand strict adherence to the Constitution without liberal interpretations. Today's 'conservatives' don't give a rat's ass about the constitution.

There are a few real conservatives, like Dean, Norquist, and Goldwater, who would call (and have called) today's 'conservatives' irresponsible and reckless.

who loathes Bush. He voted for Clinton and then Gore because it was only under Clinton that we had a balanced budget. He thinks government should get the hell out of people's lives and be as small as possible. He's voting for Obama.

19. I am an infrequent viewer of the show but was surprised by the segment I watched
which was even handed.

Several posters have filled me in that it followed their normal biased and superficial treatment of Obama.

Actually it must have been worse than their normal treatment because they were sheepish and very even handed including an odd comment about how great Michelle was (odd because it was offered up without any context or related to anything)>

It is now obvious that they had gone overboard earlier and were trying to make up for it.

to prove that he wasn't as biased as all the emailers were accusing him of being towards Obama. You could tell he was steamed about the barrage of emailers.

He talks over everyone and thinks whatever he has to say is important. He doesn't realize yet that you learn more by listening than talking. And I am very glad I didn't see that!

13. I always think I'm watching ESPN when he's on...
It's like watching a stupid jock trying to act like he knows what he's talking about. Then you see Pat Puke Cannon gettin' all Reptilelike... and Mika making little puppy noises.

It's a great alarm clock to shock you into the new day... the first exercise to do is grab the remote and flick it off.

Edited on Fri Jun-20-08 09:11 AM by ErinBerin84
But I did turn it on near the end to see the author of the new Karl Rove book talk to Joe, Mika, and Pat. It was kind of funny because Pat was starting to argue "ROVE ISN'T RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL OF GEORGE BUSH'S FAILURES" (you know, in his shrieky voice), and the author said that Rove helped create the president with the lowest approval ratings since NIXON. I wondered if he specifically mentioned Nixon also because Pat was sort of Nixon's Rove in some ways, haha. And then asshole Joe in his snot voice said "Well, I think in 10 years, when we look at the situation in the Middle East, we won't be thinking of George Bush as an idiot, like he is now. I think history will think of him as a fair president."

16. I start the day with the morning newspaper.
It's a peaceful way to start the day. No commercials blaring at you. No talking points. Just the news. It's also good to know what's going on locally. And it's good to support print media, which is in serious trouble in this country.

What if we had nothing but cable news to tell us what's going on? I shudder at the thought. Each shows panders to its audience, telling them the news the way they like to hear it. That even goes for Keith Olbermann. I watch him regularly, but with full awareness that he does slant the news to the left.

about MSNBC or any of their bobbleheads.

I predicted long ago that MSNBC will switch from sucking up to Obama and bashing the other candidates to bashing Obama if he won the primary contest. And it's starting to happen.

22. That's typical Joe,
and that's why I don't watch him. I don't watch any show where he's a guest either, because he's a huge asshole.

It's pretty funny, though, watching the wingnuts wet their pants on live TV over Obama's decision to opt out. They see the writing on the wall and know that Obama is going to bury McCain with his carpet-bombing ad campaign and superior ground game.

:bounce:

Here's what Chuck Todd said about it.

*** Two no-brainers: Obama’s decision yesterday to opt out of the public financing system drew plenty of criticism from good-government groups, editorial pages, and the Republican Party. So did his Web video announcing the move. (Instead of raising the specter of GOP 527s, why not simply say that he owed it to his supporters to do everything possible to win in November, and that McCain would do the same thing if he had the opportunity?) But the decision was a no-brainer. As one very smart political observer told us yesterday, if Obama had stayed in the system -- bypassing the opportunity to raise about three times amount what the system offers -- then he’d question Obama’s judgment and ability to be president. Simply put, it would have been a dumb move.
