I know he lost his race for re-election but considering the circumstances I think that could be excused. I'd certainly rather see Cleland than his fellow Georgian Sam Nunn. He did vote for the war but later said it was the worst vote he ever cast. He admitted that to vote otherwise would have guaranteed his defeat.

Any thoughts or is this too far off base to merit discussion?

1. I will never forget his speech at the 04 convention
His smile was unbelievable, and his words were riveting. To me, his speech was the most moving of the convention. That man has given so much, and been treated so badly by the right. I would like to see him in charge of veterans' affairs.

2. I'd really rather have a VP who was against the war.
I could see Cleland in the Obamadministration somewhere though. He could resurrect the VA from the joke its become under the Bush Crime Family.

3. He's a good man, but his defeat in Georgia led to depression.
I don't know whether he's better now, but it's likely that he's not up to the job.

5. Unfortunately I don't think he is. PTSD has hit him really hard.
Max is a GREAT MAN, and I hope we can defeat AH Chambliss in November, just for Max!
