Obama adviser Susan Rice shows Dems how to handle FOX
Barack Obama's Senior Foreign Policy adviser, Susan Rice, handled Laura Ingraham today 6/18/08 on Just In, making her points, insisting on finishing her thoughts, and exposing Ingraham as not very serious or informed beyond the right-wing talking points. For showing how it should be done, Susan Rice is Top Dog.
With video.

Ingraham was in full modus interruptus, defending George Bush and the Iraq war and cheering the success of the surge. She resorted to asking the always lame "Do you want to win in Iraq?" which Rice answered perfectly. I feel safer already, with smart, rational people like her on Obama's team.

But oh how I hate Fox.

Win? What?

And then the Club Med line...man, they just don't get it.

14. I agree that she did well on the Joe show. However, she was
weak on the argument "There haven't been any other attacks since 9-11".

That silly Republican talking point needs to be attacked.

In the first place, the 9-11 event happened on Bush's watch, despite the fact that there was ample
warning.

Secondly, the U.S. is still spiraling downward as a result of first attack. There would be no reason to launce another.

The Republican argument the Bush administration has prevented another attack is based on the old
joke about the absent Elephants,i.e."since I put two cats in my backyard, there have been no elephants. Therefore, my cats are effective deterrents to elephants."

26. not only that, but

If the last attack on the US was in 93, then if (and I am LIHOP MIHOP, so a big IF) we were attacked in 2001, then we should not expect another attack til about 09.

And if * and his cohorts were actually worried about an attack, surely they would have placed our National Guardsmen at our own borders rather than to ship them off to attack another country that obviously had nothing to do with 9/11.

* has created thousands (perhaps hundreds of thousands) more potential terrorist.

38. I agree and since it's the truth..it
has staying power. bushco was asleep at the wheel and let 9/11 happen and little rudy of New York holds a huge responsibility in not having the proper radios for Rescue and putting the command center in the Twin Towers.

August 6, 2001 Memo would not have gone unnoticed by Al Gore. He wouldn't have gone on vacation..but then his poll numbers wouldn't have been down.

8. I wasn't that impressed and here's why....
I was impressed with Susan Rice, but what is not impressive to me is when Dems go on Faux and end up playing by their rules. What I want to see or hear of is the Obama campaign tell those bastards over there that THEY need the Dems more than the Dems need them and if their hosts want to play this idiotic game of interrupting guests and not letting them answer, then the Dems will stick with the big three, CNN, PBS and MSNBC.

FauxNews needs to be pushed out into the wilderness.

9. That Ingraham is a a piece of sh*t, to put it nicely.
Rice, when allowed to even get in a word edgewise, handled her with ease. Why is it that these neo-cons need to shout and use boorish behavior to try to make their ill-conceived points? Sheesh. Good work, Susan Rice!

21. It's their only option
These nuts got to power by doing this, as in my opinion the 'scream from the pulpit' approach caught people's attention earlier in this decade. Granted, most of those whose attention was caught were and are fucking idiots who yearn for their 'news' in 10-second sound bytes so they don't have to actually (gasp) read or think, so at first it wasn't a foolish approach, as much as I hate it personally.

Now, these fools have no other choice. Reasonably debating anyone in this regard on the issues would be a nationally-televised de-pantsing, so they stick to the scream/interrupt/accuse/inflame approach to try to get the actual smart people off point. As horribly grating as it was to watch this moron try to hang with Rice, in a way it's satisfying to watch a minority coalition of whack jobs slowly and surely lose their grip, their ruinous power over our society and ultimately (and hopefully) their relevance. They know they're circling the drain and that their time in the limelight is done, but no one should expect them to go quietly or to do anything differently than what got them there in the first place. These neo-cons aren't rocket scientists, so to expect them to recognize the big picture isn't realistic, given that they want to believe such 'facts' as Jesus hated gay folks and poor people. Watching them return to their rightful (pun intended on more than one level) place on the outer limits of the lunatic fringe will be as historically positive for our country as any development in quite some time.

these rethugs are delusional when talking about Iraq is successful. They have the same old talking point( we are WINNING IN IRAQ) some one needs to ask them what the fuck is winning in Iraq mean and if we are winning as they say then why are our troops still in Iraq

A good response to that question for Faux is: "I thought we did win. Five years ago this network was proclaiming victory and making fun of anyone who begged to differ. Were you lying then or just plain wrong?"

22. She's a great representative
She stood her ground up against ol' Laura, which is obviously hard work. Half the time she was on, she was trying to finish answering a question or finish making a point, that has to be truly frustrating and Susan Rice handled it with grace.

Thanks for posting.

Kool-Aid drinkers I've run across, but of course I generally avoid Faux news like the plague. Ingraham's irrational anger is palpable in this "interview." How they can allow this sort of offensive "journalism" is beyond me. Susan Rice did a GREAT job!
