Obama Camp Hits Giuliani--HARD--Over Terrorism
The Obama campaign and the DNC struck back at Giuliani for criticizing Obama for pointing out the handling of the 1993 World Trade Center bombing trial as an example of how to deal with terrorists in American courts.

In an e-mail, entitled, “Giuliani v Giuliani: 1993 World Trade Center Bombing Case,” the Obama campaign points out that in 1993, Giuliani said at the time, per the New York Times, March 5, 1994: “Mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani declared that the verdict ‘demonstrates that New Yorkers won't meet violence with violence, but with a far greater weapon -- the law.’”

Also from that day’s Times: “Mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani said he hoped that the verdicts would lessen tensions rather than increase them. ‘It should show that our legal system is the most mature legal system in the history of the world,’ he said, ‘that it works well, that that is the place to seek vindication if you feel your rights have been violated.’”

The DNC takes its shot at Giuliani with an e-mail with a title, parroting Joe Biden’s Greatest Debate Hits: “Rudy, ‘Noun, verb, 9/11’ Giuliani returns.”

“Democrats are not going to be lectured to on security by the mayor who failed to learn the lessons of the 1993 attacks, refused to prepare his own city’s first responders for the next attack, urged President Bush to put his corrupt crony in charge of our homeland security, and was too busy lobbying for his foreign clients to join the Iraq Study Group,” DNC spokeswoman Karen Finney said. “Rudy Giuliani, can echo the McCain campaign’s false and misleading attacks, but he can’t change the fact that John McCain is promising four more years of President Bush’s flawed and failed policies on everything from energy security and the economy to the war in Iraq.” First Read

19. Obama needs to draw boundaries and eunuch their attacks about his...
ability to handle security issues.

The GOP has annointed itself with the reputation of being the alpha and the omega on security issues. The truth is that they are not strong on security, and have placed our nation at greater risk.

I'm VERY glad that Obama brought up G.'s war profiteering. That needs to be information that is made front and center. G. turned a national tragedy into a war-profiteering venture in which he greatly benefited.

No one likes a politician who pimps tragedy for personal gain.

9. If BIden had done nothing else this campaign season
that line alone made it worth it for him to run. It was a thing of beauty.

14. Obama is fortunate to have Dems prepared to attack and hitting hard for him. That is a huge
difference from a Dem party in 2002 and 2004 whose most wellknown faces were showing up on TV supporting and defending Bush on his terrorism and Iraq war decisions.

Kerry, Biden and Clarke are NOT going to let Obama get hit - - they make a fierce front line.

12. Owned.
This is the kind of short, sharp counter-punch I've come to admire a great deal in the Obama campaign, and it'll make Giuliani think twice before he opens his yap again. Unless he wants another busted lip, that is.

Biggest fraud ever Giuliani put his emergency center in WTC 7
and then used it primarily to f*ck his then girlfriend, Judith Nathan, behind his wife's back.

The main reason for not putting it right across the Brooklyn Bridge from City Hall was he wanted to use it for press publicity.

That fraud should not be able to say word one about counter terrorism.

15. Damn. The Obama campaign is fantastic.
Not only do they respond immediately, but the response is well researched and flawless.

STFU, rethugs. And especially you, Rudy you scumbag.

Poor McCain... he's going to get blown out.

17. Giuliani is a national PUNCHLINE. How desperate is the RNC
for them to trot him out to go after Obama?

I can't decide whether to laugh at them or pity them. Ah, hell--I'll do both.

18. Okay, don't flame me
but won't rudy just say that that was pre-9-11 and we live in a different world now? Isn't that what they ALWAYS say?

I love the hard hitting response from the DNC, Biden, Kerry, et al and I hope it continues. Lord knows we didn't do this in 2004, and we should have. But anyone who thinks rudy will be shamed by this, or shut up because of it, hasn't been listening. He doesn't react based on facts, the truth, or anything mundane like that. He just screams "Boo!" at every opportunity, mainly to appeal to the low information voters.

22. Joe Biden made Rudy a national joke with his "Giuliani is a noun, a verb, and 9/11" comment.
If that's the best the RNC can do, well...

They are desperate at this point.
