Big Headline on CNN: McCain puts Obama on Defensive
From Terror to Gas Prices.

I was walking by a TV in the office here and that was pasted across the screen.

Let's see, even Dick Cheney thought the gas price holiday was stupid and we just had 51 people killed in a Baghdad car bombing.

And, why is CNN saying Obama is on the defensive?

3. Obama has to respond to every idiotic demand McCain makes
so maybe that is why CNN says he is on the defensive .

5. Because their job is to influence Public Opinion as the PR firm working for the Republicans.
Do you think that Times-Warner wants to see an increase in Corporate tax rates?

I don't think so.

7. Because McCain's slide in polls does not fit
their narrative. They need to manufacture something to prop-up McSame. Also remember that McSame has been cozying up to the media for 20 years, being accessible to them (prostituting himself) so now the media will give him a pass as payback

10. McCain's only down 4 when he should be down by 14.
He's been attacking Obama pretty hard, and the Obama campaign has been forced to respond, which takes away time from them hitting McCain.

8. Cricket08, You're kidding right? The MSM did NOT give Obama a "free ride." Don't you
remember the week-long video loop of Rev. Wright's rantings? And that's just one example of how they came after Obama.

Yours is a curious post.

and NEVER ever mentioned any of the infamous Clinton baggage..

30. true, the Wright rantings were aired
but were only presented in a negative voice by Faux. CNN and MSNBC's pundits talked about guilt by association, and built up Obama's race speech. There is nothing curious about my post. The Saturday Night Live skits tell it all. Overall, Obama was treated with kid gloves throughout the primary. MSNBC was in the tank for Obama, and though CNN was somewhat more down the middle, they too presented Obama in a much more positive way than they did Clinton.

It's curious to me that anyone here on this board would deny the coverage of the Primary was not in Obama's favor.

15. Was that before or in between the Press' Frenzied Pastorbating?
Last I checked, they tried to end his presidential run.......they just mistimed their slime.

Here, argue with the Project for Excellence in Journalism (a prestigious Watchdog group) on its analysis based on the Pew Research Center's report.

I believe they are better credentialed in their analysis.

May 29, 2008
If campaigns for president are in part a battle for control of the master narrative about character, Democrat Barack Obama has not enjoyed a better ride in the press than rival Hillary Clinton, according to a new study of primary coverage by the Pew Research Center’s Project for Excellence in Journalism and the Joan Shorenstein Center on Press, Politics and Public Policy at Harvard University.

From January 1, just before the Iowa caucuses, through March 9, following the Texas and Ohio contests, the height of the primary season, the dominant personal narratives in the media about Obama and Clinton were almost identical in tone, and were both twice as positive as negative, according to the study, which examined the coverage of the candidates’ character, history, leadership and appeal—apart from the electoral results and the tactics of their campaigns.

The trajectory of the coverage, however, began to turn against Obama, and did so well before questions surfaced about his pastor Jeremiah Wright. Shortly after Clinton criticized the media for being soft on Obama during a debate, the narrative about him began to turn more skeptical—and indeed became more negative than the coverage of Clinton herself. What’s more, an additional analysis of more general campaign topics suggests the Obama narrative became even more negative later in March, April and May.

28. I assume that you were out of the country over the last few months?
If so please take a moment to google: "Wright", "Ayers", "Rezko", "Cling to guns", "Barack Obama Jewish Problem", and many more.

While you were out the negative coverage for Obama was about 3 times higher than for Clinton. I'm sure someone around here still has that graph.

Yes, Obama let himself get outflanked on the gas prices issue. He should have devised a new idea on this and he didn't.

drilling will get more popular. it makes no sense to me to oppose drilling for oil. if the argument is more supply wont help then why did democrats demand saudi arabia produce more oil?

"Oooh looks like McCain has Obama on the ropes... on the defensive now... O Really? Is that how you describe the candidate who's ahead and increasing his lead? Fascinating! "...What can Obama do to get back in this thing? We'll ask Ed Rollins, Dick Morris and Newt Gingrich for their assessments on Senator Obama's struggling campaign after the break..."

16. CNN is a propaganda machine. Obama's campaign
has hit back.

CNN may be slow to pick up the Obama campaign's response (CNN was notorious for this during the primary), but the responses are out there.

CNN's spin is becoming irrelevant, but they're still working hard to achieve distortion.

24. Here is the deal
Any clear thinking person knows that Obama would mop the floor with McCain. But the corporate owned media CAN NOT allow this to happen. The media and the powers that be will not stop until McCain is being sworn in. They must destroy Obama so that when McCain "wins" they will have their buts covered. Then they can go on the air and say .."Well Obama clearly lost because "____________________."
Insert any insane statement that comes to mind. The American suckers, I mean people, will buy it lock, stock, and barrel. Right now they are just throwing whatever they can up against the wall to see what is going to stick. Once they find their magic issue. They are going to embrace it, and run all the way to the bank with it. I promise you. I am not trying to sound like a jerk. It's just the fact that we have all seen this movie before, and no matter how hard we all try. The ending is always the same.

No.

Not that we won't have to be smart about this campaign, but I do think people will see through this.
