For my 1000th Post.

First, I'd like to say thank you to everyone in the GD: P circle. I was very timid at first to post my feelings and thoughts but with words of wisdom and encouragement I can now make semi-coherent posts and threads! So thanks to everyone.

The real reason why I started checking out DU some years ago was for the Top Ten on Monday's and quite literally, only the Top Ten. I was in the Navy at the time and I'd show up to work early so no one else would see me. I'd consume a bagel with a cup of coffee and laugh so hard sometimes, my chuckles would echo through the empty offices.

I was never interested in interacting with other Democrats. I figured there was no point since we all vote for the same shit anyhow. Pretty proactive, huh? The 2006 Senate elections kind of opened my eyes to how different perception and reality can be. I found myself checking these forums on a weekly basis y'know, just to see.

Anyhow, I was determined to be actively engaged this presidential election cycle. Starting in November, I started really paying attention to who was running and on what platforms. I had my favorites but in normal conversation at work, no one knew what the hell I was talking about. Joe Biden? Is that a clothing line? (That was a real question at work). I bit my lip and signed up for an account just to have that ounce of interaction.

Now, I'm an addict.

So thanks, DU, mods and members alike. I know get about 50% less work done during the day.

Which I'm not, I'd have chosen something like 'Pressure_Drop' or 'Monkey_man' of 'Rough_Rider' or something. But no, I had to go with the obvious google-search-away-from-making-myself-look-like-a-jackass screen name. Eh, about par for course I suppose.

that made me laugh! glad you have enjoyed it! I know when I first started posting in the last pres. cycle, I was very nervous about some of the long time DUers who were known for their, shall I say, hootspa, chiding people's inarticulate arguments, but, with a little thought I was on my way to making posts. I've had quite a few that hit home runs without even trying, and some I thought people would agree with died faster than B*sh's attempts to get OPEC to produce more oil, so you never know - keep posting, and God bless!
