NBC poll: 22% say Clinton as VP will make them more likely to vote for Obama; 21% say less likely
and 55 percent say it makes no difference.

Shows that there may not really be any benefit to add Clinton to the ticket.

2. So it's a wash.
And I have a feeling it'd be easier to convince that 22% who are less likely to support Obama if he doesn't choose Clinton than it would be to try and convince the 21% who are less likely to support an Obama-Clinton ticket.

I suspect that you're right.
There's a lot of independents, even moderate Republicans who could be swayed into voting for Obama but for whom the word 'Clinton' is like a terrible insult to a beloved family member.

8. That 22% will vote for Obama anyway
That 21% won't. She should not be on the ticket.

My guess is that he will "conveniently" ignore the percentage that won't vote/less likely to vote for Obama if she is VP, and focus on the McCain/Romney vs Obama/Clinton matchup. Of course, not attributing it at all to the fact that Romney is a pretty weak VP candidate as well. The VP polls kind of bug me. Chuck Todd said that the person who is well known always polls better, just because the general public isn't aware of the other choices out there ( in terms of "this percentage supports the dream ticket!" well, of course they do, the media has been trying to tell us that it is fucking doomsday elsewise)

12. This poll is misleading
I would expect the 'less likely' vote to double once the attack machine is aimed at her.

She would give them such a large target.

13. Internal poll numbers are crucial here. If the 22% who say Clinton as VP will make them more likely
to vote for Obama are Democrats, and the 21% who say Clinton as VP will make them less likely to vote for Obama are Republicans, then there's clearly a benefit to having her on the ticket. I'd expect Republicans to say that having HRC on the ticket would make them less likely to vote for Obama, but they're not likely to vote for him anyway.

Did the poll break down where the 22% versus 21% came from?

15. True, but just because Democrats say it makes them more likely to doesn't mean they won't w/o her
Or that they necessarily would vote for him if she is on the ticket. Just that it makes them more likely to.

I am not for or against HRC as VP...I have really mixed feelings about it. But I'd like to see what the next poll looks like on that question...I feel like it's too soon after her concession to judge whether her supporters will vote for Obama either way or not.

14. I checked that page belatedly. The poll shows clearly that she HELPS Obama.
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/25096620

While Obama has a six-point advantage over McCain, that lead expands when New York Sen. Hillary Clinton is added as Obama’s running mate, the poll shows. An Obama-Clinton ticket defeats a GOP one of McCain and former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney by nine points, 51-42 percent.

That's the paragraph above the one you quoted with the 22% versus 21% figures.
