Given the past 8 years...why would anyone vote for McCain?
I just don't understand why any sane, rational person who has been at least semi-comatose the past 8 years would even think of voting for more of the same.

I don't think they know either.

My 100% Republican voting parents can't answer that question.

On Edit: It's probably because of "9/11".

3. People who are terrified of having a black president
That mentality still exists in this country. Before I started volunteering for the Obama campaign, I never dreamed that some of my neighbors, friends, even family members have racist tendencies. What a rude awakening it's been. And the worst part is, they usually preface their racist remarks with something like "I'm not a racist, but...".

5. Key words there: "sane" and "rational"

6. There's a certain kind of person who after 9/11 pretty much lost their mind.
Now they want the US to control the world and destroy anyone and everyone who looks at us funny. They worry about "Islamonazis" and could care less about our practicing torture. To them, it's a plus.

7. I don't see why anyone would vote "Republican"
I mean, just what are "Republican values" these days? Just about everything they stood for prior to the Republican Revolution of 1994™ has taken a 180-degree turn.
