Joe Biden for VP - Fulfilling the Attack Dog Role Already
i always liked Biden...and now i think Obama might need him, older white guy...with scotch-irish working class roots, a familiar name in the PA area...and most importantly, i cant think of another democrat with more foreign policy RESPECT than JOE BIDEN.

"Senate Foreign Relations Chairman Biden, who was not on the call, issued a blistering statement during it, calling McCain's choice of words "evidence that he is totally out of touch with the needs of our troops and the national security needs of our nation.""

Biden is already doing the attack dog job =]

2. If It's Not Hillary, Biden Would By Far Be My First Pick.
He's amazing in his ability and knowledge. He deserves so much more credit than he gets.

3. I've been posting this almost every day ... Biden would be GREAT
On top of his credentials, I think Biden and Obama really do get along,
too. When Biden got himself in trouble with the "clean and articulate"
statement early in the primary season, Obama came out strongly in a debate
and defended Biden's record on civil rights, and I just sense that there's
a personal chemistry -- a mutual respect -- between the two.

8. i get that too....they really seem to like each other
biden is def a good ole boy, but a good (read DEM) good ole boy...he puts people at ease and knows how to talk...sometimes way too much.

still think biden had one of the best lines in any debate when he said guiliani is noun, verb 9/11!

almost lost it on that one.

4. I think he's Irish Catholic, not Scots-Irish
Different wave of immigration, and different religion.

Otherwise, yes, Biden is doing a great job taking down McCain. That's why I wanted Biden for Pres in the first place - had a feeling it would be McCain on the other side and Biden could knock him down. At least Obama is talking to Biden a lot, probably getting good advice.

I'm wanting Biden or Schweitzer for VP, and maybe Biden for Sec of State if not VP.

14. Biden is definitely Catholic -- which would help the ticket, frankly
HRC was running away with the Catholic vote and Biden could help
bring them across. I like Schweitzer, too but I think with the
world in the mess it's in, foreign policy/international experience
is going to be more important than executive experience in this
election (esp with Obama being as young as he is). Plus Biden
could absolutely CHEW UP BombBomb on the campaign trail ...

plus the governing experience (rather than Senator) and out-west factor. Obama has lots of good choices!

the "first clean and articulate black" line but I might be able to overlook it if he's the best VP choice.

17. I would suspect geography is not favorable toward Sen. Biden in the VP selection process
There is a desire to build greater inroads in the West, South, Southwest and border states.

And also a desire to appeal more to small towns, rural areas and mid-size cities.

These are not factors favorable for a big city guy from a small urbane Northeastern state

23. Obama needs someone from outside Washington
I just don't see Biden helping with people who don't pay close attention to politics. He will be seen as a Wash insider and not "change".

Biden is almost made for SecState. I'd be thrilled with him as VP, but I think he really needs to be our point person on dealing with foreign nations.

29. Always Been a Biden Supporter...
Is he perfect...nope. No one is.

However, few people know that....

He is second to last on the Senatorial wealth list (he was never in it for the money).
He had to take a second out on his house to send his kids to college.
He takes a train to work every day.
His son is preparing to serve in Iraq.

As far as I'm concerned, Biden would have made an excellent President...perhaps a President for the ages.

31. Biden is out because of bankruptcy reform--no joke...
Edited on Wed Jun-11-08 07:27 PM by tokenlib
How the hell can Obama pick Biden? Obama attacked Hillary for her vote on Bankruptcy reform. Just yesterday, he attacked McCain for his votes in favor of the bankruptcy reform legislation.
Those attacks are entirely justified and many of us applaud them. Biden was more guilty on this than McCain and Clinton--because of the home state connections.

Biden did the bidding of the banks and lenders of which many are based in Delaware. To support Biden for VP means turning a blind eye to his support of this mean-spirited, rotten legislation. Also to pick Biden would mean unless he attacks Biden as well for his behavior--there would be a blatant double standard.
