CONFIRMED: Obama confronted Lieberman over Muslim smears
Obama confronted Lieberman over Muslim smears
By: SilentPatriot on Tuesday, June 10th, 2008 at 11:30 AM - PDT

http://www.crooksandliars.com/2008/06/10/obama-confronted-lieberman-over-muslim-smears/

Last week we told you about Senator Obama’s “slightly intimidating” confrontation with Joe Lieberman on the Senate floor. Well, now we have video of Barack Obama literally leading Lieberman aside by the hand, and Newsweek provides confirmation of exactly what the two talked about about.

In a brief but animated Senate floor confrontation last week, according to a campaign aide who asked for anonymity when talking about private discussions, Obama told Lieberman he was surprised by Lieberman’s personal attacks and his half-hearted denials of the false rumors that Obama is a Muslim. (The aide says Lieberman was “strangely muted” during the exchange; a Lieberman spokesman says the chat was “private and friendly.”) McCain spokeswoman Jill Hazelbaker says Lieberman “played a key role in reaching out to the Jewish community in the primary … and you can expect that will continue.”

Hopefully this little “chat” persuaded Lieberman to stop issuing those “half-hearted denials.” If HolyJoe wants to support McCain, that’s his prerogative. But that surely doesn’t give him license to help passively spread a wholly unfounded rumor.

14. 'strangely muted' means he was scared shitless. he was caught
in a confrontation more fun to talk about than to experience. he's like the little punks that say they will kick someone's ass and when that person shows up becomes 'strangely muted' if you know what I mean.

3. I'd give anything to see the part where Obama had Lieberman up against the wall.
On another note: if Lieberman and Larry King had a contest to see whose forehead is bigger,
who would win?

what a betraying asshole Lieberman is to do that to him. I can't believe the stupid fucks in my state that voted for him over Lamont in 2006. I am still fuming over that one. :grr:

11. Makes me think of High School and the girl that did not make
the team so spends all her time cutting down the girls that did. What is wrong with that man any how. Sounds like old age stuff. He and McCain sound like the old guys in the park playing cards.

15. Lieberman's only 3 years older than me, but looks like a really, really old fart.
Edited on Tue Jun-10-08 04:18 PM by Seabiscuit
Hell, he looked like a pathetically old fart 8 years ago when he stabbed Gore in the back. He had such a turkey neck back then that he must have had it since he was 40.

23. Rove asked an "honest" question in 2000...
...when he did the "whisper campaign" in South Carolina.

He basically asked Klan voters how they'd feel if they knew that McCain had an illegitimate black baby.

He didn't say that McCain HAD one.

Good thing, too, because he DIDN'T.

But he asked the question in a way that sent McCain to the bottom rung of the ladder in every loyal, sheet-wearing voter.

Lieberman's doing the same thing. And he knows it. That's the worst part. HE KNOWS EXACTLY WHAT HE IS DOING.

19. "played a key role in reaching out to the Jewish community"
Oily rat bastard. Happy to shill votes for McCain, but check out what he did when he was ostensibly campaigning for Kerry before an audience of Jews in Florida:
"They want to hear it from him because he’s the candidate," Lieberman said. "We are dealing with a president who has had a record of strong, consistent support for Israel. You can’t say otherwise. And I think John Kerry to reassure people has to be explicit to say what I feel he believes. Forget what I feel — his record says this."
Probably stepped into a Senate closet and giggled his ass off when Bush got reinstalled.

21. "a president who has had a record of strong, consistent support for Israel."
The grandson of Adolf Hitler's banker, and the son of a man whose chief advisor told him "Fuck the Jews, they don't vote for us anyway."

Nice company you keep there, LIEberman.

24. Off topic, but, based on that pic...
it's good to see that Obama is several inches taller than McCain. From what I understand, height tends to help men get elected. One can only hope.

25. Something that troubles me: Why is it a smear to be called a Muslim?
No, I'm not saying it makes things any easier for Obama. All our presidents so far have been, nominally, White Christian Men. Rumors of Islam certainly don't make it easier for him to fit into that mold, but why are we so determined to keep that mold when our candidate isn't white?

What bothers me is the "half-hearted denials" bit. What responsibility does Holy Joe have to correct such a rumor, and why the hell should anyone care? Going out of your way to deny it vehemently is just bigotry in action, and inaction against bigotry.

Seems to me, the right answer to those "Obama is a secret muslim!" rumors ought to be "So what? Why does it matter to you anyway?"

I liked one reply on the c&l comments section tho:

Lollimom @ 8:

Embittered-Max-Hussein-1 @ 5:

Fredric L. Rice @ 1:

>>> Joe is a hate filled Christian terrorist and a traitor.

>> Joe is a Jew…

> I think this is a “never mind” moment…

If Hilary can be a Lesbian having an affair with Vince Foster
and
Barack can be a Muslim with a controversial Christian minister
than
Lieberman can be a Jew and a Christian.

Besides…what does he have against being called a Christian?
