It's almost noon out here on the West Coast and I don't see anything anywhere.

Supreme Court meets Monday morning

The Associated Press

Mon, Jun 9, 2008 (6:47 a.m.)

The Supreme Court is meeting to issue opinions and announce whether it has accepted any new cases.

Major cases still undecided include the rights of detainees at Guantanamo Bay, the ban on handguns in Washington, D.C., and whether people convicted of raping children can be given the death penalty.

The justices have 26 cases left to resolve before the term ends in late June.

I thought they use to issue them on Wednesday, but that may be a memory of something else.

2. On WJ today, the host said they were meeting today.
Maybe I'm taking "today" too literally. :)

6. I think they issue opinions on Wednesdays, but ...
... but I could be thinking of the State Supreme Court.

I don't read the opinions like I use to do. Now, I read the news, and any SC opinion that pops in the news draws my attention. Otherwise, I wait to get notices from other sources which apprise me of important changes in the law in certain areas.

4. They release at least one opinion every Monday. However, today's opinions were mostly unanimous and
not very important.

The really controversial cases almost always are decided right at the end of the term (end of June), because they take longer to write.
