Meet Ohio's Secretary of State, Jennifer Brunner (D)

That will make a big difference compared to last time.

4. I'm a transplanted Buckeye
and I'm very glad the political landscape became more blue before my arrival in Bob Ney's old district (now represented by Democrat Zack Space).

It is comforting to know that Jennifer Bruner will be counting the votes this time around, but I still feel that Ohio may become a political Ground Zero once again.

5. OH's Brunner had a hard time working w GOP.
Overlooking past illegality, trashing of 2004 evidence, etc., to get better laws, hopefully. No good technology available with existing vendors, but can we count the ballots? Did we get decent recount and audit abilities law? Old habits die hard, and districts just run machine counts again for the same result.

Love to know.

7. Don't get me wrong
I think it's great we have a D in the SOS's office. Still we are literally going to need people out documenting voting discrepancies on election day in quite a few states.

8. I wonder why people are so nervous about McCain in Ohio
The state's infrastructure is now Democratically controlled, and the head-taking of a bunch of Republican congressmen is set to kick off in earnest.

It's going to be a wave election, and Obama's going to take the state comfortably.

9. I wish I were as sure as you are of that.
I do think Brunner is making excellent strides in the right direction--such as putting all of Cuyahoga County on paper ballots. Now if she could just get the whole STATE voting on paper.

Of course, then the system is only as good as the scanners, and we need to be sure the scanners will not fail.
