No child will ever grow up with the words "You can't do that..." ever again.
As a black American I feel like the sky was reached this week.I just can't describe the way I felt Tuesday night. There has always been talk about whether or not a black man would become President of the United States.I always believed it was possible, but I thought that I would be at least 70 years old before it happened. But I am 27 years old, and its here.I am just glad that my 72 year old grandmother is here to see this.No I don't think that racism will escape but I believe that we are getting closer to a better understanding.
I wish Barack's mom was still here to see her son and what he has achieved.I wish people knew more about his multi-cultural heritage. His background is a lot like mine.
I felt hope when Kerry ran in 2004 and I feel hope again in 2008.I just pray that we finally can put the America flag back on the mountaintop and get Obama elected in November.I work weird job hours but I plan to do all I can to convince everyone to go out and vote in November.I already to plan to take the election day off because I just CAN'T be at work when the results come in.
This is not a black or white thing for me.I love all my American brothers and sisters. No matter what we are all human. The picture of Obama being covered with the hands of adorers after his speech Tuesday night sums up the melting pot of America for me.
As a female I feel that I have Hillary Clinton to look up to whenever someone tells me that its a man's world anytime that I talk about owning my own company or someday running for office.I talked a lot of junk about her on this board and I feel ashamed that I did.But looking at Hillary just as a person, she is a strong person and I am glad that she is on our side. What female does the Republicans have that can evern try to match the strength of Hillary Clinton or any other woman in the Democratic Party?
I have felt a natural proudness this week that I have never felt before.I am just glad to be alive to witness this moment in American history. Its time for a change in all directions.I am sure that the conservatives still stuck in the past are shaking in their boots.Oh if Strom Thurmond was here to see this ! And Jesse Helms - OMG ! I am hearing from so many people this week that have voted Republican all their lives that they will be voting for Obama in November. Its not a Democratic or Republican thing this November its a vote for America. We need to heal America.
This country has seen nothing but sadness and confusion since Bush got into office. From the election recount in 2000,September 11, to the start of the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq,Hurricane Katrina - it feels good this week to see the breaking news be about something positive that would everyone in this country ...
