When does it become time to put aside our differences?
Edited on Wed Jun-04-08 03:54 PM by mutley_r_us
The primary is all but over, and it's pretty clear at this point that Obama is the Democratic candidate. Some are happy about this, and some are not.

My question is this -- are the differences between the pro-Obama group and the pro-Hillary group so vast that we'd be willing to let McCain win? Does anyone here not believe that an administration under either Obama or Clinton would have been a vast improvement over the last 8 years?

FYI -- I am at work right now, so I will be reading and responding as time allows me to do so.

1. It hasn't helped that Clinton didn't outright concede.
Because then the whole thing just feels as if it's still ongoing.

But, maybe after a few days, that won't matter, it will feel like it's over and we can get interested in November.

5. I just hope we don't lose too much more time.
McCain already has a good jump on us as far as time to focus on the GE.

6. Me, too. On the other hand, he hasn't accomplished much
in that time. I think we'll be fine.

2. Sorry but the losing candidate has to leave the race
before we can really put aside our differences.

8. Even when it's pretty clear who the winner is?
We've already lost valuable time to McCain on the GE.

3. Quite a few of us have put this behind us and are beginning to get into GE mode.
Unfortunately the assholes are just louder.

14. Well, the options at this point are voting for Obama
or sitting this one out and possibly allowing McCain to win. I know what I've chosen.

Anyone who takes their eyes off of her before she does so is asking for trouble

15. It will be slow going until Hillary quits her divisive tactics....
I can see no benefit in criticising Hillary's supporters, but I believe it is bad strategy to do as some have advocated: remaining silent when confronted with Hillary's tactics.

18. Why do her tactics matter right now if Obama has won?
Sure, for future reference we need to discuss issues with campaigning, but aren't there more important things to worry about, such as the GE?

19. There appears to be a concerted effort
to keep that from happening. In the news media and elsewhere.

Edited on Wed Jun-04-08 05:05 PM by OzarkDem
Obama supporters have had a taste of favorable media treatment and they've convinced themselves the media have "seen the light" and are now on their side. As long as the news media is attacking Clinton, they're happy.

25. Well, I wouldn't put any stock in anything said by anyone who feels that way.
You don't need too many brain cells to know the media is on the side of the $$$, wherever that may seem to lie at any given moment.

20. I backed Clinton, but I'm ready to turn the fight to McCain.
It, however, doesn't help that many in this forum are still obsessed with torching her. Seems to me that her failure to concede right away is a paper-thin excuse to continue the hate-fest, and I honestly wonder if it'll actually stop once she does utter those magic words. I'd love to see HALF the vitriol that she gets around here re-directed towards McCain, where it's truly needed.

If she's so insignificant and loser-ish, GD: P would look a lot different today, but we have a TON of sore winners around here. She'll concede soon enough. The "I want it now" whiners would've shat their pants in primary years past..
