Caroline Kennedy?

Didn't see that coming.

ON EDIT: Caroline is apparently on the list of people doing the picking. But, then again, that worked out well for Dick Cheney.

UPDATE: ATTORNEY General Eric Holder also on the list (of people making the list).

UPDATE: Jim Johnson the third of three on the list of people making the list as per Jake3463's post #21 below.

6. Not quite. She's on a list of people to search for a VP.
In essence, she's on the vetting committee.

Who woulda thunk it after all the analysts were telling him not to go there!

WOW, Caroline Kennedy helping him choose a Veep, plus two others.

Smart move, Barack. That'll take at least up until a week or so before the convention.

She's plenty political and she's gotten very involved in this campaign. She's the right age to take over in 2016 too.

22. She isn't going to be ON the ticket. Apparently she is on the committee to seach for VP.
And she herself says she is not politcal. She does not like the spotlight. She never has.

26. She's been campaigning for Obama at least since January.
Rallies, articles, and appearances in many states. I think she's political enough and I think she'd be an awesome veep. Two constitutional scholars -- hell we're going to need their full time legal expertise just to get back to 2000.

29. There are other examples.
In academia for example. Yes it's the exception not the rule, but I'd say being on the search committee is a pretty good sign that she's at least thinking about the job.

21. Search Committee from Ben Smith
Caroline Kennedy to lead Obama's veep search

The AP reports that Obama has asked a three-person team, including Caroline Kennedy, to help lead the vetting of a prospective vice presidential candidate.

The other two members are Jim Johnson, who does this every four years and had already begun, and a legal advisor to the campaign, Eric Holder.

Notably, none of these figures are particularly close to the Clintons, and the choice of Kennedy in particular -- the scion of a different dynasty -- may help damp down speculation that Clinton is in the running.

Obama spokesman Bill Burton says the process will be "rigorous."

I kept going, "That sounds right, but somehow, it's wrong!"

I think he worked for the Clinton's under Janet Reno.

But excellent news.
