The following letter was in the opinion section of my newspaper today:
We have made a hard decision today. We will not be backing the Democratic Party if Barack Hussein Obama is confirmed as the Democratic nominee at the convention.
We can not support a candidate and his wife who have gone to a church of "hate" for the past 20 years. The recent tapes shown from the church service at Trinity United Church of Christ of a priest mocking and saying hateful things of Hillary Clinton have confirmed the kind of church Trinity is -- racist and radical. Obama quitting lately came 20 years too late. That might not be the opinion of all, but it is our opinion.
Our country does not tolerate racism and radicalism and we do not want it taken into the White House. The dictatorship of the media and the Democratic Party have had their heads in the sand on this issue, and in their support of the Obamas. If Obama is nominee, we will be Democrats for John McCain.
After I got through rolling my eyes, I sent the following response to the paper:
In their letter accusing Democratic candidate Barak Obama of "racism and radicalism," {Mr. & Mrs. Pseudonym} felt the need to include the senator's middle name, "Hussein." Yet farther down the page, they did not use Senator John McCain's middle name, "Sidney," when referring to the Republican candidate. To my knowledge, there are not multiple Barak Obamas, requiring the inclusion of a middle name in order to differentiate between them, so what reason could the {Pseudonyms} have had to include it in their letter? The only reason I can think of is that the {Pseudonyms} wished to imply that Senator Obama is alien and potentially dangerous to America, simply because his middle name is of Arabic origin, rather than European. Humans often see in the world a mirror of their own thoughts and beliefs, so perhaps the bigotry the {Pseudonyms} see in Obama is actually a reflection of themselves.
I'll let you know if the letter gets printed.
