4. Team Clinton was partying away in their bunker.
Edited on Wed Jun-04-08 08:32 AM by VolcanoJen
Illuminating account here:

http://blogs.tnr.com/tnr/blogs/the_stump/archive/2008/06/04/in-the-clinton-bunker.aspx

How fitting that, on the night Barack Obama finally claimed the Democratic nomination, Hillary Clinton delivered her non-concession speech from a concrete bunker. To reach the Baruch College gymnasium where Hillary spoke with such surprising defiance her supporters had to descend two flights below street level. The thick subterranean walls blocked out cell phone and BlackBerry signals, and no televisions were provided in the main event hall, thereby insulating Hillary’s cheering supporters (intentionally, some theorized) from the dispiriting events unfolding at the Xcel Center in Minneapolis.

In the bunker there exists a different reality. In the bunker, Hillary is the winner: of the popular vote, of a series of big swing states, of the authentic American vote. In the bunker, Hillary is introduced by the indefatiguable Terry McAuliffe as "the next President of the United States!" When asked about the reality outside the bunker—that Obama supporters were in a minor rage over Hillary’s speech-- McAuliffe looked at me incredulously. “Tonight was Hillary’s night!” he exclaimed. “We won tonight! We won in South Dakota! We keep winning!”

<snip>

Who knows when that time will come. In the press filing center tonight the weary hacks, bathed in a grim fluorescent glare, gathered round a pair of giant TV screens and watched as Obama declared himself the Democratic nominee. After that historical moment, I strolled back into the hall where Hillary had just spoken. She and Bill were still there, working the crowd, with perhaps a couple hundred committed supporters jostling to shake their hands, give them gifts, urge her not to quit. Over the PA system blared a song with the refrain, “this is our country, this is our country.” Down in the bunker, it always will be.

9. It just keeps getting better and better
The Clinton's have lost all touch with reality. She is not going to go quietly into the night nor is she going to be a gracious loser.

This is all about her. She didn't get the crowning that she was promised, so now she's going to burn the damn place down.

Pathetic.

... and give the money to her.

To spend on what?

Pathetic isn't even a good enough word to describe what's going on here.

19. Her line "I'm the strongest candidate to face McCain" really gets me
If she's the "strongest" candidate, she should have been able to easily defeat Obama. Calling yourself the strongest candidate implies that you actually have something to offer and present substantive ideals, no one should even come close to defeating you in a primary if you are indeed the "strongest".

It perplexes me to listen to her but even more perplexing is the fact that her supporters have lost all grip on reality and their supposed identity as Democratic voters. They didn't wink an eye when Republican's were crossing over in droves to vote for her so the GOP didn't have to face Obama. They've made excuse after excuse for her and her campaign's behavior and gaffes.

I just don't get it. I remember back in 2000 the "Sore Loserman" shirts and signs that were making the rounds and thought to myself that it was pretty classless since Gore actually had legitimate and substantiated arguments. But what's even more classless is actually be a sore loser without anything to back up your claims.

20. To spend on her campaign's huge debt.
Millions of which she borrowed from herself. I'm guessing she'll finally concede when she's raised enough money from her most worshipful zealots to re-line her own pockets.

25. That's exactly right.
During her speech, she asked her supporters to go to HillaryClinton.com and send their "thoughts."

Of course, the "thought" is pre-written, and when you hit "submit" you go right to her donation page. :-)

Clinton's not interested in your damned opinions, she's interested in your checkbook. Hillary die-hards are being played like a violin.

32. Really? There's like a range of "attagirl" messages in a pulldown menu or something?
And no text field to say what you actually might think?

I have NO FREAKIN' IDEA why that surprised me. :D

Edited on Wed Jun-04-08 09:18 AM by VolcanoJen
That made me laugh... "attagirl!"

Here's what it says:

"Stand with Hillary today and send her your message of support.

I'm with you Hillary, and I'm proud of everything we are fighting for."

Then you add your name, address, click SUBMIT and you're asked to donate.

There is an "optional" message field but she's only soliciting a "message of support." :-)

There's a flash animation saying "JOIN SUPPORTER" where names of people who filled out the form are scrolled. But not their messages. Fill out the form, and you're automatically a "supporter."

But I'm sure there are plenty of people out there who just don't care or don't realize the kind of money she and Bill have & make. Those speaking and advisement fee's that Bill rakes in hand over fist just don't go quite as far as they used to, apparently.

21. What? She's got something better to do?
It's called professionalism & courtesy. It's not "I can't take his call, I'm in the middle of a speech," or "I'm talking to big donors or super delegates."

She's screening her calls to avoid Obama out of arrogant childish spite, and nothing more. A professional adult TAKES THE CALL or at least has someone take it for her.

I don't care that she didn't answer her calls, in fact, after her little petulant pity party last night, I'm glad she didn't.

many people call me all the time and get my voice mail. Is this really worth your wasted effort to attack Clinton? It's over move on with your hate, disgust, and vile. Try to use unity, change and hope for a change. Obama does so why can't his supporters? Which by default i have now become. But this continuous stupid bitching about HRC is just a bad reflection on those who say they are believers in Obama's message.

43. It's not a two way street.
You're operating under the false assumption that Hillary and Obama are equals. They're not.

Obama is the presumptive nominee, the leader of the party, and - if Hillary's followers continue to be as loyal Democrats as they claim, or not - President of the United States as of Jan 20, 2009.

Hillary is just another wannabe loser. If she wants to be taken seriously and have any influence at all in the Obama Administration, she'll take the call.

Otherwise, I'm sure Joe Lieberman has room for a co-chair in his party.
