Vice Presidential Choices
What is yours? I know it's not our choice to make, but you can certainly have a preference.

I'm thinking John Edwards. He bowed out gracefully, is quite popular, and supported Obama when it counted. I also believe his goals that he spoke of during his run for president are compatible to Obamas.

6. Richardson
I really liked Richardson - I don't know a lot about him, though. I didn't start watching the debates until fairly late in the campaign season, but I remember being impressed by him. I think he would be a good choice too.

17. Does he have a womanizing problem? I could be wrong....
Does anyone from New Mexico know about this, or am I hallucinating?

Sometimes these are things known by locals, but not really known by the national media - for instance, I'm a Philadelphian, and trust me, that's one of Rendell's problems. Well, that and he supported Hillary 100% and he puts his foot in his mouth a lot.

9. Attorney General
I like that idea too. I love the idea of Edwards possibly being in the position to prosecute some of the Bush administration for what they've done - if that could possibly happen.

8. I would be happy with Edwards or Webb
but, like another poster upline said, I would prefer to see John E as AG.

I think the pairing of Obama and Webb would be a dynamite combination!

13. Realistically & in principle -- should be a WOMAN, who NEVER supported the IWR (my favorite's Boxer)
There are unavoidably going to be LOTS of disappointed women out there who had hoped to see the first woman in the White House. Well, at least having a woman on a (hopefully WINNING) ticket would at least be HUGE. Then, especially since there will be heightened scrutiny (not like 84 when Mondale didn't stand much of a chance), it should be someone with sterling credentials, which is right anyway.

Obama has made a major issue out of the reflection of how someone voted or stood on the Iraq War Resolution when it mattered. If he chooses ANYONE who supported the IWR, it won't just contradict his stated 'principle' about judgment, but would be a constant point of attack and ridicule from many quarters.

CA Sen Barbara Boxer voted NO on IWR, has MANY years of experience in both houses of Congress, LOTS AND LOTS of background in foreign policy (one of a handful of women to the left of Lieberman for whom that's true), is positively charismatic and has low negatives among non RWers, and no serious baggage AFAIK.

She could help carry Florida, and, I guesstimate, suburban women voters as a potential swing vote in many states. She is spearheading the current (in my view insufficient, but bound to be vetoed by W anyway) greenhouse bill, and she's been front and center on this crucial issue. She is strong on lots of other issues and is said to be among the brightest and most knowledgeable senators.

Other women who would be strong include Sebelius (never supported IWR), MI Sen Stabenow (voted NO on IWR), and maybe Napolitano (don't know).

Among males, there's Bob Graham (has been BOTH a governor AND a senator, w/foreign policy background, and voted no on IWR) and is possibly the only possible running mate who would be MORE helpful in FL (almost certainly carry the state NB), and several other possibilities, including Richardson (who I doubt Obama will pick as their positions on Iraq are different, but who I think would be the strongest of the candidates Obama competed with in the primaries), and others. NONE better than Boxer EITHER as a candidate OR as a president, in my arrogant opinion

21. Barbara Boxer
I like her too - I am so wishy washy I guess - there are a lot of people I'd be happy with. I would like it to be a woman as well. I like that she voted No on the war - then Obama would be more free to speak up against the war without anyone coming back and saying your running mate voted for it.

16. General Wesley Clark.
..although Bill Richardson would be good too....

I just think we need a military guy and an HRC backer to seal the deal.

Wesley Clark is that and more... (plus he was my first choice anyway)...

18. No WAY! Clark "screwed the pooch" by his atrocious pandering behavior the past couple
of weeks on the talk shows. Hell, Wes Clark couldn't help us any, he's got his head so figuratively far-up HRC's ass that he can't see straight :grr:
