Hillary supporters have been treating us like absolute dogshit for the past several months
Over the past few months, we've been described as a cult, that we're supporting an empty suit, we've been accused of being sexist, we've been mocked for believing in hope & change, etc. We've had to withstand nonstop threads about Rev. Wright, threads about how Obama's wife is crazy, etc. We've seen Keith Olbermann's name dragged through the mud. We've been told repeatedly that Obama is simply not "electable". Now that Obama has wrapped up the nomination and most of are jubilant, we're told that we're "gloating". We continue to see these "ON TO DENVER" posts - one can only wonder about the mentality of that. Are we supposed to suddenly start playing nice, and at the same time continue to subject ourselves to nonstop abuse?

If you want to call a truce, that's fine. But if you do so, you need to acknowledge your own side's negativity, and you also need to denounce any further negativity. Otherwise, it's not a real truce, but the disarmament of one side.

14. I think you are confusing the media with Hillary supporters.
If anything, Obama supporters have been some of the ugliest detractors of the Clintons.

2. What alternative reality do you live in?
Obama supporters out numbered Hillary supporters like 50 to 1. Everyday was an all out attack on Clinton and her supporters.

You need to seriously do check your facts.

Yes there were a few obnoxious Clinton posters, many trolls, and a few outright assholes, but for you to somehow claim the side that has vastly more numbers is somehow the victim..........All I can say is that you need a good dose of reality.

5. Who said anything about which side had more supporters on DU
So what if there were more Obama supporters on DU? I'd say that DU mirrors the rest of the country, where Obama won more popular votes, more states, more delegates, more superdelegates, etc. Makes sense that there would be more Obama supporters here.

Besides, many Hillary supporters left DU to go start their little rant-rave sites like Hillaryis44 and Hillaryclintonforum.net.

Doesn't change the facts of what I said in the OP. For the most part, we Obama supporters were fairly positive until Hillary supporters started mocking us, calling us a cult, sexist, etc. I know you want us to just STFU, bend over and continue taking it, but that's not going to happen.

10. The OP didn't say anything about who outnumbered who
that was you

There were/are more than 'a few' obnoxious Clinton supporters as there were/are more than 'a few' obnoxious Obama supporters.

23. The numbers mean absolutely nothing
I have lurked on DU for years but didn't sign on until a few months ago when the racist attacks from some Hilly supporters became too much for a me ( a person of color) to fucking tolerate anymore. I would go to the greatest page and all the crap there would be negative post about Obama. I utilized DU as a place to come for information to share with other message boards, DU was always good for that. I was shocked at some of the racism coming from folks who claim to be liberal and the fact that it was allowed to continue. You all love to talk about sexism but I notice when racism is thrown up you want to act as if folks are being too sensitive. I signed on just so I could use the ignore button and get the information I needed. I sent a good friend here who said she would never give DU money because of some of the racist shit that was allowed to go on here. Lately it has gotten better but I have an extensive ignore list. What I find funny is that DU has more Obama supporters but when all the stupid Obama gates broke (especially wright gate) there would be all bumped to the top and like five or six of these topics on GP. They even organized a plan to bump there stupid divisive post to the top. Maybe you need to check your facts because over the last four months that I have been here several long time DU'ers and some new ones over 1000 post have been booted from this site all of them Hilly supporters. Maybe that is why their numbers are dwindling. Most of them have been booted for their racism as most of them have been suspended once or twice for their racist rants. Ya'll just love to play the victim but fail to realize that you have some bad apples on your side and people have a right to defend themselves from it. You are the one who needs a good dose of reality.

4. A pox on both your houses.
I'm so tired of the accusations from both sides. All of you need to grow up. All of you. Yes, Paint It Black, to answer your specific question, you ARE supposed to start playing nice. And not only if the other side starts doing it first. That's what grownups do.

8. Does playing nice mean continue to allow the other side to spread lies?
If by playing nice, you mean not starting new negative attacks, that's one thing.

But if by playing nice, you mean not responding to negative posts, not correcting outright lies, not responding when Hillary supporters say stuff like "Obama is not electable" then that's bullshit.

16. Playing nice means being grownup, is what I mean. You all should try it.
Tell you what, Paint It Black—if you be the grownup first, I'll take you out for an ice cream cone after dinner! Wouldn't that be great!?!

21. sorry I just read this

truly my thoughts exactly. It's just the chirrun here. I wish there was some way to ground them, but as anyone with kids knows, sometimes you've got to let events unfold. The bigger the mess they make today, the smarter they'll be later. If any candidate is going to win, it sure won't be because of bickering on DU.

6. actually, playing the victim is pathetic
Here's the deal with the human dynamic:

If you truly deserve pity people naturally want to hug you.

If you ask for pity, people naturally want to smack you, figuratively speaking.

I have seen unfettered out of control horrorfest shit on this site, and quite frankly the majority of it character and ad hominem attacks, just as the OP's pathetic back handed attack.

Ding, your fifteen seconds is up. You have a nominee, now quit ranting and run along and find a performance to hate rather than a performer.

It's much more becoming of adults in political discussion to talk about issues rather than people.

12. The majority of what I've seen has been Hillary supporters asking for pity
Everything I said in the OP is true, not a "pathetic backhanded attack". You don't see many Obama supporters starting threads like "Quit picking on us" or "Leave us alone". My OP is NOT asking for pity from anyone.

But you simply can NOT ask for civility in one thread, and then turn around and continue attacking Obama and his supporters in other threads, which is exactly what many Hillary supporters seem to want to do.

18. it's still "he said she said"
Can we not move on to issues now? That's my main point. The ones who want to keep talking about who done who wrong(er) are not really involved in politics. Just popularity contests.

I am going to make an assumption here:

The presumptive candidate gets feedback from Huffington post, from qualified posters on DU, and from a wide range of other "on the street" public opinion.

If we can't discuss what we want and expect from our candidate, or it gets lost in the ad hominem crap, we're wasting words and time.

It's time to move on, period. No bashing, no attacks, and personally speaking if there was a behavior exhibited that someone PERCEIVED as ad hominem attack or took personally, it's time to own up and apologize for being unfair, both sides, so that we can focus on being fair and being positive.

19. No, that is how I feel. I posted it. Not my candidate.
And, besides, my candidate before my current candidate was Edwards.

But now I support Barack Obama fully, completely, virtually without reservation.

The speech last night was historic. I have never been so disillusioned in my entire life as I have been these past eight years. I did not think that there was any way out.

But I have been convinced otherwise by Barack Obama and his campaign and his supporters.

26. Yes they have and the love to play the victim as well
Which is probably why they are drawn to Hilly. It didn't help that admin told us that we better be nice to them as if they are a bunch of third graders or something. When Wright gate broke you could not come here without seeing at least 20 threads on that shit yet when assassination gate broke they were breaking their backs to squash that story, we even had some mods getting into the action. It's pathetic and a bit scary to think that adults behave this way. I couldn't imagine how things go down IRL for these people. I cleaned out my ignore list a few days ago and slowly started adding them back on. I cannot wait until they are not allowed to post their crazy shit anymore. You even got some actively saying that they will vote for McCain as if that is gonna help there "be nice to me cause." It cracks me up how some of them demand respect in one breath then will go and post something about Rezko, say something mean and nasty about Michelle, bring up Rev. Wright, make excuses for their poster child the racist rant lady and so on. First of all I don't come to DU to give nameless, faceless people respect. Second of all you don't demand respect when you are behaving disrespectful.

All in all I could care less about their cries of unfairness, be nice to me, I'll vote McCain cause I know Hillary supporters in real life who don't behave that way. The Hillary supporters I know are good friends and will vote for the Dem nominee and when we get into discussions about Obama and Hillary it is always civil. Never once have I heard my friends bring up this stupid whitey tape, Rezko etc. They like Hillary's personality and I can respect that.
