I really hope Obama picks Biden for VP!
Probably won't happen.
Delaware is not in play.

But I'd love to see it.

cleveramerican, I trust Obama's judgement.

I suppose the Secret Service advised him against asking Hillary to be Veep.

4. Biden is razor smart, compassionate, broadminded . . .
Experienced as all get out, but a little too diffident to win the presidency. But as a veep he'd be first rate. Not likely, but great to imagine.

Links to your evidence would also be most appreciated.

9. No more than representatives from Idaho are owned by potato farmers.
Biden's largest constituency works for a bazillion banks here in Delaware and chemical corps.

I'm hoping he gets picked for VP also.

15.  Wow, thanks...Biden: said that Obama is a "mainstream AA" who is "clean" "bright" "articulate"
"I mean, you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy, I mean, that's a storybook, man."
— Joe Biden, describing fellow candidate Barack Obama

The remark was made the same day Biden filed the official paperwork to launch his presidential campaign. He later apologized and said he should have used the word "fresh" instead of "clean." The Chicago Tribune observed that the gaffe "gave Obama the opportunity to appear magnanimous in the face of an insult," after the Illinois Democrat responded by saying that Biden didn't intend to offend anyone. Obama did add, however, that the comment was "historically inaccurate," citing former presidential contenders Jesse Jackson Sr. and Al Sharpton, who chimed in saying, "I take a bath every day."

Nobody takes on off-the cuff mispronunciation seriously. If you looked at substance Biden is oneof the best politicians we have.

14. If He Was Owned By...
the credit card companies, how come he wasn't floating in cash? It might have helped him become the nominee. For the record, he is second to last on the Senatorial wealth list. He was never in it for the money.

He should have been our next President.

21. He'd be an incredible asset in any position
in Obama's administration.

And I can only laugh at the bringing up of the credit card companies. That's about the best anyone can come up with, and some DUers from Delaware have posted that they were grateful for his vote for their state's economy.

Not only is he not OWNED by anybody, he made a conscientious decision when he entered public service to NOT invest in the stock market -- lest his votes be influenced by his holdings.

25. I like Biden a lot...
I don't expect him to get the nod, for a number of reasons, including his occasional tendency to put his foot in his mouth, and the fact that Delaware isn't really a state Obama should need help in.

However, he'd be great - and though I don't like how friendly he sometimes has been to cc companies - I understand it. I doubt you can be a Senator from Delaware and not be. I suspect that in national office (Pres, VP, etc.) he wouldn't necessarily feel the same pressure there.

He's incredibly good on foreign policy. He became my choice among the early candidates partially because of the great foreign policy speeches he was giving. He'd certainly shore up any perceived weakness Obama has there.

I'm not sure he's best for VP though, and another reason beyond those above is his age. He'd be too old to have a legitimate shot in 2016 - he'd be a couple years older than McCain is now. VP should go to someone younger.

He'd be a spectacular choice for Sec of State.

29. Biden is too important for Vice President
To go from the Chair of the SFRC to the Vice Presidency, which has little power outside the discretion of the President, is a demotion in terms of their ability to affect policy. Biden would be a powerful ally to any Democratic President in terms of implementing their foreign policy agenda and, toward that end, getting important funding measures through the Congress. Any advisory function he could serve as Vice President he could also do in his current position. The same holds true as a special envoy or ambassador.

People should really stop looking at the Executive as a superior branch of government. It simply isn't the case.
