"when we finally win the battle for healthcare in this country, she will be central to that victory"
“And you can rest assured that when we finally win the battle for healthcare in this country, and we will win that fight, she will be central to that victory.”

A largely ignored comment from Obama's speech today that may imply that:
a) No VP spot will be offered to Hillary.
b) Hillary’s role in his administration is healthcare.

Do you think I’m reading too much into it?

2. Yes, he was being gracious, but Hillary accomplished nothing
the first time she tried to deal with healthcare, so would she be wiser now?

5. I think you are right. The 1994 Hillarycare fiasco is still on the minds of many people.

6. But now she has legislative experience. Perhaps she has learned.

4. I'd say you were on the right track
but I actually hope not, because I don't care much for Hillary's current Romneycare II mandatory corporate health care plan.

Maybe some of you Canucks can come down here and show her how it's done, if indeed President Obama appoints her to such a position.

7. If it has to be a choice, I sure hope it's (b)
...and that Hillary is motivated to make her mark by learning from the last go-round.

9. I caught that too, and it registered with me as significant somehow.
I guess we'll be finding out soon how significant.

of pundit thought, depending on their own particular sourcss.

The Andrea Mitchell school kept insisting she does want the VP, and all her sources in the Clinton camp were saying so.

The Feinman school kept insisting his sources said that although she is trying to force Obama to offer the VP, she doesn't want it. It's not a Silver Medal. Eight years of that office- not a power base-- doesn't excite her. She's certainly not going to get to be a Cheney in any Obama admin.

Could in fact be she wants something else. I could live with b.

11. In all fairness, John Edwards reignited the whole debate on health care.
He was the first one out there to propose a comprehensive plan, followed by Barack Obama. Hillary Clinton was the very last of the big three to release any proposal, and her proposal ended up basically as being the same as Edwards'.

12. Actually I woke up this morning thinking of that comment..
and I think you are exactly right. I think this was his way of saying that she will not get the vp, signaling this to her so she can stop asking and further humiliating herself, also signaling to us so that we don't freak out:silly: At this point I don't know how he could take her as vp, even if he wanted to. She has thrown such a tantrum about it... it's like the kid in the check-out lane at the grocery store. Once she starts fussing and whining, you won't buy them the candy even if you planned on it all along. Once it turns into a power struggle, you can't give in. If he gave her the spot now it would make him look weak... weaker than the person he just beat! The repubs would make hay of that and no mistaking it. Plus he just seems like the kind of guy who doesn't take kindly to being pushed around.... I like that in a candidate;)
