Pelosi, Reid & Dean Begin The Process Of Shutting This Thing Down Tomorrow

Pelosi, Reid, Dean To Go Public: Democrats Need To Endorse

“n the absence of a concession speech from Sen. Hillary Clinton on Tuesday night, top figures in the Democratic Party are set to go public, urging all uncommitted officials to declare their presidential affiliations.

Sources have confirmed that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, DNC Chairman Howard Dean, and an official with the Democratic Governors Association are planning to release a public statement on Wednesday morning requesting that the party close its ranks and prepare for the race against Sen. John McCain.

The move, which had been anticipated but seemed unnecessary following Obama's clinching of the nomination on Tuesday night, is an indication that few figures beyond Clinton's utmost loyalists are willing to stomach a prolonged vacation period for the New York Democrat to make up her mind.

Obama, regardless of how the remainder of uncommitted officials come down, has declared the mantle of presumptive Democratic nominee. And it seems, at this point, that he is willing to put Clinton behind him in his efforts to focus on the general election match-up.” Cont…

1. And Hillary will have to suspend her campaign or risk losing more SDs...
And pissing off the entire party.

Check-mate.

There will be a world of pressure on Hillary and team tomorrow.

2. I noticed that Christine Pelosi finally endorsed tonight.
I figured that Nancy couldn't be far behind.

Great news.

There seems to be, however, just one important name missing...

21. Oui.
I'd like to see him speak out. More for an endorsement of the Democratic party platform, than of Obama, at this point.

In time, I'm sure.

3. Part of it is playing chicken and getting McGramps to announce first
And then factoring that into his decision. Given that McGramps has had the nomination for months he should pick first anyway.

10. Sorry, missed your post. But...
I don't think they are endorsing, just telling everyone else so do so.

13. You May Be Right
But I don't see how they can avoid doing so if they are telling everyone else to. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

14. Not sure, but I think as chair, Dean must remain neutral.
I don't have the statement to prove it, but I think so. Glad to see them come out.

18. Yes. Neutral, until one candidate wins the primaries
At this point, Sen. Clinton is making Democrats look like a confederacy of dunces. The leadership has to protect the party from her delusional death march. Who knew the good senator would use a night that could have been positive and unifying to steal Obama's spotlight, divide the party further and, generally, be a giant buzzkill.

Clinton needs help. The party elders are stepping in for her own good and the good of the party and its nominee. I only hope she goes quietly lest we have to hear our party trashed 24/7 while Republican gasbags chortle and praise Hillary for amassing her imaginary army of "older" white women and "hard working" white men.

Please, Dr. Dean, take away the pain.
