Edited on Wed Jun-04-08 12:42 AM by MrScorpio
I hope so

I'm sick of all the backbiting.

I'm sick of all the B.S. of who said what and what means what.

This shit is over.

We're a family, and I really, really, REALLY HATE family infighting.

Yes, I jumped on the Obama train after Edwards dropped out. But I didn't wish ill will towards Clinton, despite all the hub-bub and crap that came out of all the campaigns.

I knew that it's all POLITICS and in the end NONE OF IT really matters.

All I cared about was that we didn't hamstring ourselves bad enough to lose in November with WHOMEVER leading OUR TICKET.

So, please. Get it out of your system if you think that you need to continue this in-fight.

It won't help us in November.

1. It Certainly Does, Sir
By next Wednesday, people will be expected to have all this out of their systems.

Support for the nominee will be expected, and criticism of any Democrat must be constructive, and cannot be a smear or slur.

47. Here Are The Rules Of The Forum On The Subject, Sir
With the primary, and the cooling off period here, at an end, they will be enforced as they have always been,

Democratic Candidates and the Democratic Party

Constructive criticism of Democrats or the Democratic Party is permitted. When doing so, please keep in mind that most of our members come to this website in order to get a break from the constant attacks in the media against our candidates and our values. Highly inflammatory or divisive attacks that echo the tone or substance of our political opponents are not welcome here.

You are not permitted to use this message board to work for the defeat of the Democratic Party nominee for any political office. If you wish to work for the defeat of any Democratic candidate in any General Election, then you are welcome to use someone else's bandwidth on some other website.

Democratic Underground may not be used for political, partisan, or advocacy activity by supporters of any political party or candidate other than the Democratic Party or Democratic candidates. Supporters of certain other political parties may use Democratic Underground for limited partisan activities in political races where there is no Democratic Party candidate.

Do not post broad-brush smears against Democrats or the Democratic Party.

I got one response so far.

People enjoy being negative, enough to ruin my hopes for the future.

3. Hillary continues to be a potential stealer of the election....
Approching an election theif with kumbaya is a failing strategy.

When she stops producing things to criticize, the criticism will stop.

Until then, we must do what we can to get rid of her so we can win in November.

12. No, actually I was using your post to illustrate a point to Mr. Scorpio.
About how negative people are STILL being. I mean this should be a time to celebrate for the Senator Obama supporters (even if I may not agree with them, and NO I am NOT a Senator Clinton supporter) but it is endless hate filled posts against Senator Clinton.

We had record turnout, donations, volunteers (and picked up three special elections) and yet...nothing but hate tonight.

14. IMO, that's going to be how it goes until we get rid of Hillary....
She's like a piece of dirty toiletpaper stuck to our shoe. We have to find the strategy to get rid of her.

Until we have gotten rid of Hillary--and her attempt to steal the primary--we cannot move on to a positive level.

I also wish we could bask in the poistive aura of Obama. But we can't until we get rid fo Hillary.

17. I will not listen because my decades of political activism in the Democratic Party...
tells me differently.

I learned this from my activist mother: study the patterns of politicians, and you can predict how they will react to a new situation.

I have studied Hillary's patterns--for going on 2 decades now. Have you?

27. Nonesense, Ma'am: You Have Raised It Here, And So Are Open To The Same Charge Yourself
Neither Sen. Clinton, nor anyone in her campaign, said anything that remotely suggested even a hope for assassination, let alone an expectation of or planning towards one. She mentioned a common historical marker, indicating how late in the season primaries had been contested in the past. The real weakness of the statement as an illustration was two-fold: first, that the balloting began much later in '68, and second, that Sen. Kennedy even with the win in California was not really positioned to come close to winning without a tremendous floor fight in Chicago.

32. You Set The Standard, Ma'am, And Must Live By Your Own Judgements Of Others
If you feel the mere mention of a thing equals hoping for its occurance, or expecting it or planning for it, you cannot apply that only to others, but must shoulder the burden yourself as well.

So please bear with my repeating of the question you have glaringly failed to answer: are you expecting anyone to be assassinated before the Demver convention?

If I said "Massage my ovaries" it wouldn't quite have the same impact, would it?

So take "blow me" how it is intended...an aggressive dismissal of an inferior opponent.

It does, of course, bring an end to any serious engagement in argument, for it is a simultaneous confession of intellectual bankruptcy and declaration of surrender when anyone breaks into such ludicrous postures....

13. There Is No Potential, Ma'am, For Sen. Clinton To 'Steal' The Election
The dangerous thing about arguing by hyperbole is that people come to forget they are employing a rhetorical device, and come to mistake their own exaggerations for effect for flat statements of fact.

The at large delegates committed to Sen. Obama are not going to change their minds. Even if a sufficient number of them should, that would not be 'stealing', that would be the professional judgement of professional politicians concerning what was best for the Party, acting not only within Party rules, but fulfilling the role their Party office was designed to perform.

Vitriol directed at 'getting rid of' Sen. Clinton now will do great harm to the Party's prospects in November. Remember that roughly half the Party rank and file voted for each of these two candidates: deliberating alienating supporters of either is hardly a wise course at this point. Politics is a game of addition, not subtraction.

This is the equivalent of Red Sox fans burning down Boston after their World Series victory over the Rockies last fall.

It's astonishing.

I guess we can all be thankful Obama didn't lose, because most likely .. DU supporters would be out carjacking people and smashing store windows. :scared:
