Obama Supporters: Have You Noticed The Clinton Supporters Tonight?
Edited on Tue Jun-03-08 11:55 PM by writes3000
Overwhelmingly, most Clinton supporters tonight have remained silent. Perhaps, they are licking wounds. Perhaps, they are mourning. Perhaps, they are other places plotting.

But for the most part, they are silent. Some have congratulated Obama and his side. Some have actually joined us in Obama's fight for the White House.

I think, overwhelmingly, most of them have shown real maturity tonight. I'm sure there are hard feelings.

We aren't going to change Hillary Clinton at this site. But we are able to have a productive conversation with Hillary Clinton supporters who may be on the fence about what to do next.

Which plan do you guys think is more productive?

1. I congratulated Obama.
Once the hate stops - maybe then we can have productive discussions.

21. I really look forward to it.
I'd like to hear more from Clinton supporters about what things you would like to see out of Obama's campaign and positions.

And I'm curious about what roles you think would be best for Hillary, Bill and even Chelsea.

Just a discussion.

Anyone who respects the values of Hillary Clinton, or any Democrat, will recover and stir into action against that ugly future.

3. There are some very 'sore winners' in GD-P tonight. It's a real shame!
I've been a Kucinich supporter from the start but this behavior by the "SORE WINNERS" is abhorrent!

I have just been reading...shocked by the vitriol, hatred and presumptions being spewed. This is worse than freerepublic. How disgusting.

12. So are remaks from Clinton supporters like "inadequate black man"
The racist card was pushed by the Clinton camp all through this primary, and I won't forget or forgive the Clintons for that

17. Hillary Clinton never said "inadequate black man"
It was some wack job, older lady who was escorted away.

And...plenty of wack job Obama supporters have called Clinton much worse. I never held that against Obama.

31. No she didn't, but she sure encouraged that mode through Geraldine Ferraro(sic)
and her statements of division that it was white people who were her supporters

38. You point is well taken, however, Senator Clinton continued to pound the racial differences
whose only purpose was to divide, and encourage racism

I had a associate at work today, who knows I am an Obama supporter, mention to me that there is a lot of talk about how Obama is against white people

I tried to educate him that you can't really believe everything that the media or what is on the internet. He couldn't provide an example either when I inquired

My point is that I believe she tried to divide people on the basis of race throughout the campaign

10. As long as Hillary is attempting to steal the election, we have to oppose her....
I some of the Hillary supporters may be embarrassed by Hillary's jabarwocky approach to this primary, especially this last primary night.

I think some may have fled to more Hillary-oriented websites.

Whatever. We need to shut Hillary down, and quit coddling her. You have seen what coddling an insane person gets: more insanity.

We cannot afford this, as a Party or a Country.

It's time for tough love with Hillary Clinton.

22. I'm leaving that to Obama and the Democratic party.
For me, I will be polite and "ignore" those freepers or Hillary supporters who will not be. I can have a conversation with anyone who will also be polite, disagreement is not the problem: uncivilality is. I'm staying away from threads that attack any one group, and keeping my own sanity as stable as possible. ;)

Edited on Wed Jun-04-08 12:14 AM by VolcanoJen
The Clinton supporters who attended her speech put me over the edge with their "DENVER!" chants, so I decided just to go out and find the funny stuff.

In fact, the best quote I found came not from this site, but from the wonderful John Cole at Balloon Juice, who wrote:

Obama is giving mad praise to Hillary. Good thing he is the nominee and not me, because I would wave a giant foam middle finger and then moon her.

And that is pretty much that for me tonight. GOBAMA!!!!!

19. We can talk to Clinton supporters and we can talk about Clinton's actions themselves
The two aren't tied. Clinton herself is apparently still in the race, and since her opponent is the demoratic nominee- she is now an opponent of the Democrats, and thus an enemy to the board.

24. i have always thought most Clinton supporters here have been good advocates
and fair and as Barack moved towards the nomination, most of them expressed support for him, even if accompanied by their own understandable disappointment at their own candidate's apparent impending loss of the nomination.

most Clinton supporters and most Obama supporters ultimately want one thing --a Democratic victory in November so that there will be someone to advocate and protect the things we hold dear. despite the rhetoric, *most* people here have that goal and have stated it.
