10. Still got your Hillblinders on?
Edited on Tue Jun-03-08 11:38 PM by NYC_SKP
Edited to remove snarky comment.
But I'm leaving Hillblinders in the subject because I found it so funny when I read it on the HRC blogs.

We hope that you'll find the time to learn more about the Democratic Nominee, and grow to accept him.

11. Yes, you're probably not in the mood for a "World Celebrates Joyously" headline.
Pizza sounds good, though. ;-)

15. "The whole world is watching" ... indeed, it is.
This is the USA's chance to reapply for admission to the civilized world. Let's not screw it up by letting McSame slip into the Oval Office. We've got to block every rat hole there is.

17. Absolutely!
If we think we're in the toilet now, just imagine what it would be like if McSame managed to win in November. We'd go straight into the sewer.

21. "et sa femme" and "et son épouse" are both commonly used,
I know, "et sa femme" sounds a bit sexist.
I think in French it's considered proper usage to
use either form. In the context of 'et sa femme',
"femme" is understood to mean wife. A man can even
say "ma femme" when introducing his wife.

What's interesting though is that homme is not used for
husband, mari or époux is used. Hmmmm

The word 'wife' comes from Old English 'wif' meaning woman.
'husband' comes from O.E. hūsbonda - master of the house.
Also, marriage: Origin: 1250–1300;
ME marien < OF marier < L marītāre to wed,
deriv. of marītus conjugal, akin to mās male (person)
There's some male chauvinism built into language.

I do see many more Google his for ""Sarkozy et son épouse"
"Sarkozy et sa femme". I think given the situation,
saying "et son épouse" might have been a little better,
maybe a little more respectful, but I'm not sure,
I don't think saying "et sa femme" is considered an insult
to her.
