Oh, for Pete's sake, she didn't say that she is contesting
the results of the race, or that she is staying in, not emphatically. She merely didn't FORMALLY suspend her campaign and said she would make no decision "tonight" about how to go forward. Anyways, the decision's been made for her.

So, what did she really say?

~snip~
Now, the question is: Where do we go from here? And given how far we've come and where we need to go as a party, it's a question I don't take lightly. This has been a long campaign, and I will be making no decisions tonight.

But this has always been your campaign. So, to the 18 million people who voted for me, and to our many other supporters out there of all ages, I want to hear from you. I hope you'll go to my Web site at HillaryClinton.com and share your thoughts with me and help in any way that you can.

And in the coming days, I'll be consulting with supporters and party leaders to determine how to move forward with the best interests of our party and our country guiding my way.

TRANSLATION
"help in any way you can" = "give us a little money; give more if you got it!"
for people who didn't grow up in southern churches, like I did

"no decisions tonight" = "I know the writing is on the wall; I'm just stuck in brave warrior princess mode with this fake smile on my face, and this misleading vague allusions to staying in the race, which I hope encourages you to give us a little money bomb so we can pay our bills."
for people who don't speak "Clintonese"

"best interests of the party and the country" = "I will eventually put party and country before myself, but I am going to stretch this out and pout for one more night after 16 fucking months of physical and mental hell!"
for people who don't realize that she probably felt justified in stealing a little thunder.

I for one, hope she gets a huge money bomb in the next day or two to pay off these damned bills. I don't want to penalize the non-profits, caterers, schools, rental halls or employees just because of timing. $9 million of that campaign debt is owed to small businesses and non-profits.

1. I really hoped for the best from Clinton tonight and didn't get it.

3. I'm still hoping for the best from her tomorrow. I'm full of HOPE

I'm just like that. Even when I get down, I find myself filling up with HOPE later.

Clinton will do the right thing. She didn't today. But she will, at least, I HOPE so.

2. The race is over. How hard is it to give a concession speech congratulating the winner?
Hillary's speech was inappropriate.

5. why would we expect anything different? She will eventually
give the right speech with the right tone, but not right now apparently. But I was NOT expecting a concession from Hillary tonight. I've been following too closely.

However, I know she will eventually get it right.

4. There is a level of professional grace and graciousness
that people need to have at this level of discourse, and she failed miserably.

9. Once she gets one last cash bomb, she'll start finding her
grace and graciousness somewhere. That may be a little cynical, but I'm also hopeful. I know she has it in her, or at least a speechwriter somewhere has it in her/him.

6. She was introduced as the next President of the United States
On the same night that Obama gave his "acceptance" speech, no less.

7. And Huck was introduced as the next POTUS long after he
had lost the nom to McCain...it's just the way these "introducers" like to do it.

making excuses for her inappropriate behavior.

I've seen far better public servants than she'll ever be make gracious concession speeches, to the benefit of their supporters and of the whole community.

It's a shame that she doesn't have that gear because we all needed it tonight.

11. Again, why would anyone on this board think she
"had that gear". We've all been paying attention.

She'll do it in her own timing. This was her last stand, and I'm saying CYNICALLY that she held off for two reasons:
~she wants to have some measure of power in holding out her congrats and holding out her concession

~she wants to pile up a little money at the end by stringing out her supporters.

14. Sure. Those are her goals and needs. But, as a so called leader
she failed tonight and inflicted her failure on all of us in a way.

It's nothing to have a fit about, but it's not surprising that people need to put it into words, either.
