Hillary blew it BIG TIME!
She is not a candidate anymore. She will never ever get the prime time opportunity to go out with class again.

The race is now Obama vs. McCain, not Obama or Clinton vs. McCain its OBAMA v. McCAIN!

Tonight the press is talking more about how she looks bad. Think about Hillary no one is paying attention to you anymore. You had an awesome opportunity and you blew it!

35. One would think that she's bound to have a speaking slot at the convention ...
... but I'm not sure I'd risk that, given her performance thus far. She'd probably take the opportunity to praise the Republican candidate.

But behind this mask of ultra-confidence lies a fragile self-esteem, vulnerable to the slightest criticism.

Signs and symptoms
Narcissistic personality disorder symptoms may include:

Believing that you're better than others
Fantasizing about power, success and attractiveness
Exaggerating your achievements or talents
Expecting constant praise and admiration

Taking advantage of others

16. But, that's what she wants, don't you see?
Edited on Tue Jun-03-08 10:21 PM by VolcanoJen
She's been building a "founding myth" for weeks now. From claiming she's a victim of sexism, from claiming that Obama's the one playing the "race card," from her crazy math, from deluding her supporters that the race is "close" by the only measure that has ever counted.

She wants the media to hit her hard after that speech so that she can continue to argue that everything is their fault, that they "fell in love" with Obama and that they "annointed" him. It's the only thing she has left and she's workin' it hard. Nothing is ever, ever, ever Hillary's fault in HillaryLand. The Iraq war vote? "Why, everyone thought Saddam had WMD and it's not my fault the evidence was faulty." The Bosnia story was blamed on "sleep deprivation." The hard-working white Americans was blamed on "well, I was just quoting the AP." The RFK thing? Why, that was Obama's fault for making a big deal out of it. His supporters are crazy!

It's disgusting, of course. It's petty and it's petulant and most importantly, nothing she says really has any basis in the truth. It's maddening and I don't know about the rest of you, but I've had enough of this crap the last eight years to last a lifetime. No More. Tonight was just the final straw for me, her graceless speech, an attempt to steal the headline from Obama's historic night, and even if she does concede in a few days it's only because she wants yet another news cycle to belong to her.

But she's building this mythical framework where her supporters can always look back and say "she wuz robbed!" and look at Obama as illegitimate. It's brazenly political, and it's long past time for those kinds of politics to remain in the past because they do not accomplish anything and they help nobody but Hillary.

24. One would hope not.
They always have been and always will be all about themselves and what they feel they are "entitled" to.

With the resurrection of the "Clenis" on the campaign trail and Hillary's relentless efforts to split the party, it would be best if they fold their tents and retreat to a quiet law practice.

Unfortunately it's unlikely to happen.

They'll probably end up on some "reality" show - "Survivor - Politics on the Island".

18. My ex suffered, or rather I and my children, had to
suffer with the effects of my ex's narcissistic personality disorder. I knew nothing about it, but after countless trips to a wizened old counselor, he informed me the healing rate for someone with npd was very low. And that is because they don't think they do anything wrong. It is always the other person. People with NPD are highly manipulative and they have no real empathy for other people.

They have to boost themselves up in the public eye, usually at the expense of another person.

Hillary exhibited this pattern tonight.

If indeed she suffers from NPD, the Obama campaign would do well to keep her at a strong distance. You cannot deal with folks like that.

I am no Clinton hater; I have read a multitude of Hillary bashing posts through the months, but her performance tonight indicates something deeply amiss in this person. She could have bowed out gracefully and earned herself some plaudits.

Both David Gergen and Toobin indicated deep dismay. I think they know who this woman is and said so. As I posted elsewhere, I lived twenty years with someone like this.

You could have an intervention with someone like this and they would not accept the truth of fifteen mental health professionals sitting in a room with them.

This is no sour grapes since I have not been on the Obama train. Something is deeply, deeply amiss in the personality of Mrs. Clinton. I believe if some of her lukewarm supporters would stand back, and reflect they could see it. Rabid folks won't see a problem, but some who are circumspect just might.

If she had taken just a couple of those - or simply just voted against the IWR, she would be the next President of the United States. Now, she's become something of a national afterthought.

It's sadly baffling.

28. even in this so called win by obama hrc still controls the fate of
one bho. if obama wants to win in november he will go with hrc, and irregardless if he likes her are not he will. Now since you all say the clintons are about power then as of now she has the power and she knew exactly what she was doing giving that speech.... I support hrc and will until she decides to say, it's over or something like that.

I am waiting for the speech by obama to apologize to both clintons for the way he and his campaign and the whoremedia made both clintons out to be bigots and racist. The only way obama could ahve a chance to win this was to play the race card against hrc and then blame her. Sure it worked and the mediawhores are still repeating the same old song about Bill playing the race card....one question: Why would the clintons need to play the race card?

58. Obama and his campaign have nothing to apologize for.
It was an unwise political strategy for the Clintons and the media, for that matter, to focus so much attention on the "white working class," as they glibly put it. They didn't need to "play the race card," to use that tired phrase, in order to retain strong African American support, but in contested primaries in Southern states, Dixiecrat-type appeals are common, and it worked for Clinton in 1992 to preside over an execution and dis Sister Souljah, not to mention his moralistic speech later to black preachers about the legacy of Martin Luther King (can't say I was there with Bill Clinton on that one). They ought to have appealed honestly to black voters this time, many of whom were inclined to support them as they had in years past. But they chose a different path, and the rest is history.

The unstated corrolary to your point is that black voters are automatons and vote in unthinking racial solidarity due to the Obama campaign's "race baiting." Why not read about black voter preferences if you want to know why they supported Obama?
