A tale of three speeches: The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly.
The Ugly

McCain's speech was just awful. He repeated sections of his speech, obviously getting lost with the teleprompter. He thought he had a clever idea with his "that's not change we can believe in" catch phrase, but his forced uncomfortable smile after he recites it just creeps me out. A small, unenthusiastic crowd would provide a stark contrast to the speeches by the Democratic candidates, especially Obama.

The Bad

Clinton's speech would be one of her best if it were not for the circumstances. Being introduced as the next President of the United States, while common place in a contested race, is quite awkward after the opponent has clinched the nomination. Clinton focused on her accomplishments, not in celebration or congratulations to her supporters, but as justification for continuing the fight.

The Good

The energy from the crowd was fantastic. Obama did not focus on the historic nature of his winning the nomination, leaving that to pundits. Instead he presented a rallying cry not just to his supporters but to America as a whole. While Clinton's speech was miles better than McCain's, it was just not in the same league as Obama's speech.

3. Agree.
Obama's speech was the best of the evening,
clearly the oration of a future president
and world leader.

Not only was it the best speech tonight,
it was perhaps the best in years!

Eloquent, intelligent, passionate, charismatic, and inclusive.. all plusses.

I was inspired.

5. Well, most definitely..
Obama put McCain and Clinton to shame.

They both should be embarrassed.

"forced uncomfortable smile." It reminded me of Dan Ackroyd's imitation of Jimmy Carter's smile. I happen to think Carter's smile is actually a tic, but Ackroyd's version of it really was similar to McCain's smile. Very weird looking.

9. According to MSNBC
The venue in which she gave her speech had no Internet or cable access, so probably a lot of the supporters there had no idea what the final vote tally really was. Pathetic, if true.

17. That too was true...
done purposely...

And, don't forget to visit my email address. Hint, send money...need to pay my bills. Kids, please sell your bicycles and your toys. She did mentioned the boy that had sold his bicycle to raise money for campaign...a hint?

I rarely listen to her speeches to completion...dd. Wanted to hear the concession speech...didn't.

No unification, but I have eighteen million fans to bargain with. What will you do for me? Pay my bills? <[b>Me first.

Her fans were chanting, Denver, Denver, Denver... Not too bright, nothing to gain.

Like it or not, Barack Obama's campaign was brilliant...took the Clinton Machine to school.

11. great analogy, except I would have labeled them this way....
Good---Barack (no explanation needed)

Bad---McCain Dull, listless, unenthusiastic, etc.

Ugly---Hillary It was just plain ugly that she was introduced as the next President when clearly she has lost and couldn't acknowledge her loss and then said some things that were not flattering nor congratulatory to Obama. I call that ugly!

Just my two cents
