5. hey sniffa, I wish we could all get together for real to celebrate this event - but our beloved DU
will do! I cannot believe this, I'm verging on tears, with all the hatred and judgment in this country, I am SO proud of the Democratic Party right now...

12. I'm beyond proud
I've been that for some time, but now is the time we're allowed to accept it.

Yes, fuck those lunatic dead-enders who say we need to wait a few days/weeks/till Convention before celebrating.

I haven't been to a meet-up since probably, 2005 (bar meetings w/ Will Pitt don't count).

11. totally understandable...
we've been living under a state bordering on fascism - they've spied upon us all illegally, they've ignored disasters while * ate cake with their '08 nominee at a golf resort, they've marched us into war for no reason, they've outed a CIA operative by order of *, they've beaten and murdered thousands of foreigners and who knows how many Americans.

Hope was always there, but it felt very thin - thankfully, hope cannot be crushed - no matter the great evil we've suffered over the past 8 years...

CHANGE IS GONNA COME!

8. I am very exited
Even though I wasn't on the Obama bandwagon until after North Carolina, I have surprised myself as to how excited and proud I feel right now. This feels great and I can't wait for November.:bounce: :bounce: :toast:   :yourock: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :applause: :applause:

9. We might have more than one minority too
If you consider Senior Citizens a minority, which some people do. Frankly I don't see how anyone who's been to Wal*mart on the first of the month could think so though.

Having a biracial pres will be awesome beyond words 8D

14. I've said it before.
I don't get it. Shouldn't we be happy that a person who was consistantly right on the Iraq war won the nomination and we have a great chance of bringing all of our troops home from around the world? All of this "I'm so happy an African American won" makes me cringe to my core. We are supposed to be color blind. On this day of MLK's speech we still haven't learned. His dream wasn't "I dream a black man can become president". It was that we are judged on the content of our charecter not the color of our skin. Let's be glad a person of charecter won.

Peace.

18. no, I disagree...
his dream WAS that a black man could become president - because that was what he was fighting for - that anyone could become president - and if you note, I clearly said first MINORITY in the thread title, not black man.

Peace
