Who knows anything about Craig Smith, gold seller, Bush propagandist
Edited on Sun Aug-15-04 09:45 PM by buycitgo
I held on for an HOUR to a talk show, trying to talk to this liar!

he started out by saying that the HOUSEHOLD employment numbers are more accurate than payroll numbers in determining true unemployment

well, gee, I googled and got this instantly, cause I KNEW he had it assbackwards, just like his pals in the junat get EVERYTHING:

Economic View: Two Tales of American Jobs: ...the Federal Reserve has just thrown cold water on the household data. It concludes that the gloomy payroll data is essentially accurate and that the household survey is probably off base. "I wish I could say the household survey were the more accurate,'' Alan Greenspan, the Fed chairman, said in his testimony at a House hearing on Feb. 11. "Everything we've looked at suggests that it's the payroll data which are the series which you have to follow.''

To test the self-employment theory, the Fed adjusted the household survey by taking out all the kinds of workers who do not show up on the payroll survey - self-employed people, but also farm workers and family workers in family-run companies. Even then, Mr. Greenspan said, the discrepancy remains large. The Fed's conclusion was that the household survey's results have been inflated by overestimates of population growth. Because the household survey is a sample, the Bureau of Labor Statistics infers the total change in jobs by multiplying the ratio of employed to unemployed workers in the household survey by its estimate of the total population. If the population estimate is too high, the estimated number of jobs will also be too high.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics bases its population estimate on the 2000 census, but it updates that estimate yearly with data on births, deaths and immigration. Immigration numbers are largely guesswork, however, because so much immigration is illegal. Fed officials suspect that the immigration estimate is inflated, because it fails to reflect tighter immigration controls after Sept. 11, 2001, as well as declines caused by the economic slowdown...

he started out with this trash, then just went NUTS on terror, and how we have to prepare for it....he offers a CD at his GOLD site
http://www.goldnewsweekly.com/commentary/article.asp?RID=483

EDITED to correct site above, which is a TERROR scam

here's his main site

http://www.goldnewsweekly.com/

isn't that SWEET? he also said BS about Kerry at every opportunity, while proclaiming that we need to be bipartisan in our war on terror.

at the end, he said that he was REALLY worried about Kerry's economic stewardship, if elected, cause he wouldn't follow through on the TAX CUTS we still need. This, after claiming that the expansion of the 90s was due to REAGAN's economic policies. Guess he forgot about that QUADRUPLING of the national debt in those twelve years, huh?

so, I can't find anything good on him, and I'd love some help, as I'm composing a long refutation of that stupid radio show, in hopes of getting through to the host, who is occasionally rational.

It's a popular, nationwide show, on lots of stations:

thanks, and please help, if you can

2. Wacko Alert.
You can bet he wants you to buy gold because he sells gold. That is how it works.

Small investors can lose tons in the gold market.

3. I know that, looked into buying some for when this country/world
turns into Weimar, but can't bring myself to do it.

point is, I'm trying to find some connections to wacky nutjobs like himself

he DID mention a group called the "international institute for global security" for which I googled, but went through FIFTEEN pages without coming up with a single match. makes me think it's along the lines of OReilly's Paris Institute of Economics, or whatever he made up.

I REALLY wanna get this guy

his answer for today's problems is button up against the terrorists, consult your economic advisor, look into commodities like gold (he mentioned how it went from 280 to 400 after 911, but curiously, failed to mention how it went back DOWN to the original level!), and KEEP Lowering taxes.

slow economy: lower taxes; growing economy, which he INSISTED is now happening: lower taxes

what a shameless POS

10. YES!!!! that was his main topic today, along with Kerry bashing
he was trying to SCARE the shit out of listeners, while claiming he wasn't trying to SCARE the shit out of listeners.

what a monster

and the host, a normally lucid type, is either in cahoots with this jerk, or has lost whatever sense of balance he ever had

only reason I'm bothering with this is that he has such a large audience; all over the country

it's on TV, too, in several places

I was on his show, via radio, several years ago, and got to ask David Schippers how his GIRLFRIEND was doing. you should have seen his face, and that of the reporter sitting next to him. Schippers got mad, and the reporter LOLed. He said, "You can go to HELL, sir."
Think I got under his skin a bit?

I have it on video

16. Pukebreath?! LOL
I'm laughing so hard my dog started to howl!

I tried goldseller first, also. I watch for patterns in the search results and sort of drill down from there. I've been googling since about the time they started.

Strange Brew - nope, haven't seen it. Running joke between me and my friends.

Friend - "so nemdaille, have you seen ..... movie?"

Nem - "does it have Star Trek in the title?"

lots of rolling eyes and laughter as they remember I rarely go to movies without Star Trek in the title. I do however rend lots.

:D

you might want to get a bit medicated for that movie

it'll help to be in a slightly altered state

it DOES have some laughs, but don't get your expectations all raised up, the exact OPPOSITE of what they do for the chimp in all situations, so that if he doesn't pass out, he's done a great job

how sick are you of THAT?

20. my email to the host
Bruce,
I was on hold for an hour and a half yesterday, forced to listen to that gold/terror shill. He didn't even know the truth (more likely knew, but lied) about payroll vs. household employment statistics. Alan Greenspan has this to say about it, with which any reputable economist will agree:

" http://www.j-bradford-delong.net/movable_type/2004_archives/000343.html

He's also a religious nut, hoodwinking the gullible: http://www.true-wealth.com/content/nrb2.html

''corporate christianomics?''

Are you aware of this site?
Do you care?
By the way, his exclusive, "free offer" to your listeners is FREE to anyone who goes to his site. Did you know that?

But, I digress.
Your mischaracterization of Bush's "sensitive" remark as being said only BEFORE 9/11 is completely inaccurate. He used the term LAST WEEK! See link below.

Many other US officials have used it since the WTC attack, as well, in a context JUST as readily vilifiable as that over which you criticized Kerry:
http://www.liberaloasis.com/archives/080804.htm

August 13, 2004 PERMALINK
The Bush-Cheney Doctrine Of Sensitive War

What follows is from the above link, if you don't care to read it here; quotes are linked, btw, for ACCURACY.

SKIPPING text from liberal oasis.....they NAIL the pugs on this

What, you may ask, is my point?
Please, Bruce, if it matters at all to you, why can't you represent both sides anymore? Last night's show was appalling. I'm sorry, but it was. There were SO many more distortions, contradictions, and outright LIES in Smith's, as well as your republican guest's, presentations, that I became physically ill.

If you'd care to respond, I'll be happy to point some more of them out, as this is too long already.

Hope you've read it, and taken it to heart.
